If the Emmys have SNL hosts in comedy still, and they’ve essentially dominated comedy guests categories, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be included. Especially considering the amount of guest performers moved up to supporting. Melissa McCarthy on SNL? Absolutely a comedy guest actress of the decade.October 5, 2019 at 12:08 pm #1203122755
I really find these rules and eligibility criterias ridiculous and incoherent at times. Let’s not even talk about the Emmys here; if SNL was eligible to compete in Guest categories throughout this decade at our awards then suddenly making it ineligible for the decade awards makes no sense. This is all so inconsistent. Why not just initiate this change from next year?October 5, 2019 at 12:16 pm #1203122782
I think it’s quite nice to have some awards free from SNL dominationOctober 5, 2019 at 3:15 pm #1203123019
Thank you, Chris, for the response. That is a bummer. There are at least a handful of SNL hosts/guest performers who truly defined the decade and most certainly would have gotten my vote. Maybe it would’ve helped to have a Variety Guest Performer category? I think this way the SNL guest performers could’ve been recognized and funneled through their own unique category without cluttering the Comedy Guest actor categories. Just an idea for next time.October 6, 2019 at 8:31 pm #1203124841

It’s ridiculous that two of the top dramas of the decade, both sci-fi, both coming from Canada, were overlooked in the drama series categories; Continuum and The Expanse. No matter how those who disparage Continuum in particular, it was a juggernaut up north; winning 21 awards while being nominated for 70 by various Canadian creative arts organizations.
The Expanse speaks for itself, sci-fi’s Game of Thrones without the missteps of that show’s past 2 seasons. Too late to include these shows and their performers, but what an egregious oversight these were.October 9, 2019 at 2:46 pm #1203129900
Me when Hitting the Fan, the greatest TV episode of all time, again gets ignored for some random Game of Thrones shiteOctober 9, 2019 at 3:16 pm #1203129924

Just noticed that Mike O’Malley got moved to supporting and am devastated – he should have been winning! This really is where some of these rules are ridiculous as he was credited as guest in 5/6 seasons and he only appeared in 8/22 episodes of the season he was credited as a regular. I’ve mostly stayed out of this conversation until now even though I was frustrated like others but cases like this one really need to be highlighted for future. The rule should have been something like they are placed where they were nominated unless they were a regular for more than one season of the shows’ run or something.October 11, 2019 at 6:34 am #1203131906
If Amy Poehler doesn’t get double-nominated for Comedy Actress and Performer of the Decade, and if Jon Hamm doesn’t get double-nominated for Drama Actor and Performer of the Decade, I will be FURIOUS!! Please, people, do not disappoint me again like you did when you failed to give enough votes to Phylicia Rashad to win Drama Guest Actress at the Gold Derby TV Awards for This Is Us after she unfairly lost at the Emmys.
