Thandie Newton could very easily win the Emmy if she’s good but how you crazy lot determined that she’s definitely winning from watching that trailer I’ll never know. She says one bloody line and it’s a question.

I have to agree with this. The same with Wood. She’s just whispering a few lines, like she always does.

Cool to see flying cars or whatnot, but I do not really see why there is so much enthusiasm here. The last season finale was epic with Emmy-worthy cinematography and production values, but last season still went off the rails narratively and this trailer does nothing to quell my fears about that continuing. The Chernobyl trailer had me pumped.

In all fairness, the show runners have apparently said that they’re not gonna let this season get as incomprehensible as the previous one.

Good to know they heard the complaints, hopefully they follow them.

Katja Herbers also seems to be back (men in black’s daughter). She was shown in a quick shot here

Good to know. I hadn’t heard anything about her and I was hoping they wouoldn’t let that cliffhanger go unresolved. I’m also glad that these trailers are showing more of the Man in Black as it intially looked like he’d have a small part to play this season.

There are two another “hidden” trailers. The third one is similar to the first, but with different music and new scenes. The other one is very funny, they treat the new season like a rom-com with Dolores and Caleb (Paul) being the main couple. A lot of new scenes.

No movie or television series does promotion quite as well as Westworld, especially when it comes to trailers. First there was the brilliant trailer with an orchestral Guns n Roses, and then HBO quadrupled down with three extra trailers.

The “Your World” trailer adds some details to the upcoming Dolores/Maeve clash, the “Free Will Is Not Free” trailer has some chilling shots of William in a flooded house, and “When Caleb Meets Dolores” is the greatest thing on the planet. I know Westworld has always been a bit divisive, but the enthusiasm and marvelous craziness of HBO, its marketing teams and showrunners Nolan and Joy are so much fun for devoted fans of the series. Bravo to them.

I think this is really underselling the production design on display in the trailer.

Give up Luca, Evan Rachel Wood is in… the trailer doesn’t lie.

I’m sure Wood will stay in the conversation, but we can’t call her a lock based on a trailer, especially when she’s in such a crowded category.

Evan Rachel Wood does not get enough credit for how layered her performance is. She is constantly slipping between characters and identities seamlessly. Newton and Wright are great as hosts too, but as Dolores is the only one who really embraces her identity and role as a machine ERW’s performance gets so many extra nuances. The way she walks, the way she looks in a direction before she turns, the way she holds a hand in another, every bit of her physicality is designed to make her a perfect machine, a sculpture in motion.

The emotional rollercoasters she handled in season one should’ve made her an awards frontrunner. Crying then freezing and detachedly talking while crying, being a perfect image of innocence lost in time while slowly becoming the gunslinging revolutionary she secretly once was? In season two she’s not given as much dynamic stuff, but her ability to become so vicious and ruthless while still having that same innocence and pain underneath is astounding. The way she speaks and the way she moves turns her into this vengeful angel, and it looks like this season we’re going to be seeing Dolores in intense action sequences that will push her performance into another new direction.

Ahh I STAN this post. She easily gives the best and most complex performance in the show, in my honest opinion.

I honestly can’t choose – the fact that Westworld was snubbed for SAG Ensemble when each of its lead performances rank among my favorites of all time is an embarrassment to the institution. Evan Rachel Wood and Thandie Newton are obviously wonderful, but Jeffrey Wright’s subtle shifts between Arnold and Bernard were remarkably effective. In season two, he gets the ERW scenario in which he’s lost in time and reality and he absolutely crushes it too. Dr. Ford is Anthony Hopkins’ best role since The Silence of The Lambs, maybe ever, and MIB is definitely my favorite role from Ed Harris. Two acting legends tearing up the small screen, it’s great. And now Vincent Cassel and Aaron Paul are starring on the show, with Tessa Thompson finally getting the meaty material on this show she deserves. Also featuring Sidse Babett Knudsen, Angela Sarafyan, Jimmi Simpson, Talulah Riley, Katja Herbers, Louis Herthum, and James Marsden, with guest roles from Zahn McClarnon, Rinko Kikuchi, Peter Mullan, and Hiroyuki Sanada, it’s hands down my favorite ensemble from any movie or television series ever. Cannot wait for season three.

Word. The entire ensemble is so ridiculously talented, it’s crazy. ERW once called the show “the acting olympics” and she did not lie. Yeah Jeffrey Wright is also my fave. I was rooting for him to win in 2018 when he lost to Matthew Rhys. He was wonderful in the second half of season 1 and all of season 2. Jimmi Simpson is also one of my faves, I’d be so glad if he’d be a guest in season 3. Drama Guest Actor is kinda weak at the moment, maybe he could even win.
