The winner in that category is not going to be a white actress.

I don’t think Haas being white disadvantages her chances in the category.

You keep avoiding Insecure is there a particular reason?

I’m not avoiding Insecure. After watching six seasons of Schitt’s Creek I don’t want to jump into another four seasons of a comedy right away. That’s why I’d prefer to watch a short miniseries that I can catch up on much more easily.

I am binge watching Schitt’s Creek (almost finishing) and Insecure (season 3).

Currently on series 3 of 30 Rock.

What a fantastic emmy tape was “Generalissimo” for Alec Baldwin.

I think I’ll start Ugly Betty. Can someone here who watched the show tell me if that’s a good idea?

I love it, I love it, I love it, but I also have my problems with it.

Nicole Kidman is amazing in Moulin Rouge!

The film won the Golden Globe and the PGA for Best Motion Picture

I have a feeling you would consider “Ugly Betty” to be a slog. It’s a lot of episodes back when 20+ episodes a season was the norm. It might not have aged well either. America Ferrera, Becky Newton, Michael Urie, and especially Vanessa Williams (who should have won an Emmy here) are at least worth seeing S1. You’ll know well before then whether you want to continue to the end or not.

Ok so just saw Unorthodox episode 2 and I stand by my comment that if voters see Shira’s performance there is no way they won’t check her off for the win. For me that scene where her hair is being shaved off was a masterclass in acting and actually reminded me of the scene in I, Tonya where Tonya is crying before going on ice. Then again I said one of Blanchett’s scenes reminded me of one of McDormand’s scenes in Three Billboards so hopefully I haven’t jinxed Shira and given the Emmy to Cate (who I love and wouldn’t mind winning either tbh).

I still am enchanted by Anna Winger’s writing and I specifically like how she flawlessly jumps between the present and flashbacks without the show losing its originality. I also think Amit Rahav and Alex Reid give understated performances and deserve awards attention (although no one is as good as Shira). Hopefully Rahav and Edgar-Jones (from Normal People) can get their recognition at the Globes and Critics Choice. The crafts on this show amaze me and the fact that they snubbed it in certain places is unforgivable.

Next up is “Unbelievable.” I wasn’t ready until now to tackle this grim subject matter.

I started re-watching this show I saw when it originally aired around 8 or 10 years ago here in the UK. It’s a 90s set coming of age dramedy about a 16 year old girl in Lincolnshire (in the Midlands in England) who comes out of a mental hospital and tries to fit back into her own teenage life called My Mad Fat Diary. It may sound like a cheesy soppy teen programme but it actually is a haunting and hilariously horrific take on a coming of age story  and the issue of mental health that is more in the vein of shows like Sex Education and Buffy rather than something like Riverdale. It is actually quite a successful show when it comes to awards as it’s both BAFTA and International Emmy nominated. I would highly recommend people on both sides of the pond to watch it. It may occasionally deal with some awkward teenage topics (although it’s not as much of a focus as something like Sex Education) that some of us may have put away quite a while ago but the show has some of the best music supervision I have ever seen, jumps cleverly between comedy and drama whilst being faithful to its dark themes of mental health, dysmorphia and suicide and features stellar standout performances from Sharon Rooney (who won a BAFTA for her performance), Claire Rushbrook (who was nominated for a BAFTA for her performance), Ian Hart (Professor Quirrell from Harry Potter) and umm…

…Jodie Comer (in one of her first key roles on British television)

The trailer is in the link below. For those of you Stateside I believe it’s on Hulu and those of you in Blighty it’s on All4/Channel 4 on demand.

I’ve been through Schitt’s Creek twice, it is so comforting and makes me laugh.

I’m halfway though The Leftovers and it is absolutely excellent, Carrie Coon is a gem.

I will be starting on Unorthodox next.

    PBS Masterpiece “Les Miserables”

Good production . Would of changed some of the cast. It was fun to see Olivia Colman and Josh OConnor in a show that’s not The Crown. Not sure if it was filmed before The Crown or after. Dominick West was good as lead.

I started watching this week. I’m already on season 3. Just watched the first two last night.
