Finished watching “The Queen’s Gambit.” I’m floored and devastated! Anya Taylor-Joy is the moment, period. How did Scott Frank go from “Godless” to this? That’s some baller shit right there. The Emmys owe him big at this stage of his career. I’ll write a deeper dive on this limited series later.

Try to make it through the end. The finale of Six Feet Under makes you appreciate the series as a whole so much more.

Of course, I’ve heard of Lebowitz but didn’t know much about her. She has a dry wit and a unique perspective on life and New York – reminds me a little of The Philosophy of Andy Warhol and Woody Allen and their take on life and things.
I’m enjoying Fran Lebowitz’s world.

It is on there – you just need to search for “Downton Abbey – A Moorland Holiday”

I’m halfway through season 3 and every episode from the season 1 penultimate episode has been very engaging. Kerry Washington is phenomenal as is the entire cast. Where the hell is their SAG Ensemble nomination???
Tony Goldwyn never got nominated for anything? uhm what the hell? He’s outstanding and was Emmy win-worthy in season 2. Bellamy Young is also simply captivating in a role that is surprisingly interesting for what it actually is. Jeff Perry, Dan Bucatinsky, Joe Morton, Kate Burton and Joshua Malina are all standouts as well.
7 seasons though… sigh… I just hope at least the first 5 are on a similar level of good because i’m really enjoying it.

I’ve only seen season 3 with Mahershala Ali and it was very good. I recommend it.

Ted Lasso
Cobra Kai (all seasons)
Search Party (all seasons)
I May Destroy You (I know I know, I’m ashamed for not having finished it yet)
Lovecraft Country
Dickinson (season 2)
WandaVision (weekly)Might also try to catch The Mandalorian, The Undoing, and Industry, but that’s probably after I watch everything above.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2021 at 11:44 am #1204008815Has anyone seen Roadkill? The main draw for me was Hugh Laurie, but the series is terrible. Not sure what it’s trying to do. Episodes lead nowhere, involving silly political drama and desperate family storylines. Still, Laurie makes it more bearable to go through the four episodes.
Oh gosh that might have been the worst show I saw last year. Completely unrealistic political drama and I found some of the character arcs quite mundane. I enjoyed McRory and Laurie’s performances though. How could David Hare fall so much in quality?

January 30, 2021 at 2:35 am #1204009445Just finished Broadchurch. I think it’s the fastest i’ve ever watched a series.
Olivia Colman really did that. Definitely her best performance, she was absolutely phenomenal.
David Tennant was also fantastic, should have gotten a bafta nom as well.
Julie Hesmondhalgh in Season 3 was divine, been a fan of her since Coronation Street. A very well deserved bafta nominee.

January 31, 2021 at 11:40 am #1204011118I finished rewatching Veep and jesus h christ it remains brilliant. From the first episode to that diabolical finale in which selina does the unforgivable and sacrifices Gary. The writing is top notch and the Jones are always going a mile a minute. The cast is everything but the obvious standout is Julia as Selina. The character she created who is so deplorable and ineffective and yet you cant help but root for her. Julia truly deserved everything she won for this show and then some. She should have won a couple of Globes and she really should have won them my for the last season. This is iconic from start to finish and I’m going to rewatch the show for a fifth time now
