I’m debating moving a few things around in my Emmy predictions, but haven’t gained enough courage yet.
What about you guys and gals? What are YOUR last-minute predictions that you’ve made or are considering making?August 13, 2014 at 6:28 am #327238
Series: Staying with Breaking Bad, House of Cards and Mad Men follows closely
Leading Actress: I am moving Claire Danes to #1 and changing Robin Wright from 1 to 3, #2 is held by Kerry Washington
Leading Actor: Moving Bryan Cranston from #1 to #2, and moving Matthew McConaughey to #1
Supporting Actor: Jon Voight to #1, Paul Dinklage and Mandy Patinkin follows
Supporting Actress: The Dame, Maggie Smith, to #1 followed by Joanne Froggatt and Christine Baranski
Writing: Breaking Bad takeover
Directing: True Detectives to #1, followed by House of Cards
Series: Veep to #1, followed by Modern Family and Louie
Leading Actress: Edie Falco to #1, followed by Melissa McCarthy and Taylor Schilling
Leading Actor: Ricky Gervais in #1, followed by Matt LeBlanc and Don Chealde
Supporting Actor: Sticking with Tony Hale, moving Adam Driver to #2
Supporting Actress: Anna Chlumsky to #1, followed by Kate Mulgrew and Allison Janey
Writing and Directing: Orange is the New Black sweep
I would be thrilled to see The Normal Heart lose Supporting Actor, Writing, Directing and TV Film; angry thrilled
Fargo still at #1
Jessica Lange, SSD, for the win; followed by Helena Bonham Carter and Cicely Tyson
Allison Tolman on #2, Frances Conroy should win
Martin Freeman #1 for both nominations, but SActor, I am unsure if it’s him or Bomer, because Freeman is just MASTERPIECEAugust 13, 2014 at 7:29 am #327239
I just moved Bryan Cranston into my #1 slot for Drama Actor, after having himin #2 to McConaughey since nominations came out. Really need to watch the True Detective submissions again, but I’m starting to doubt myself on whether McConaughey’s buzz is enough to carry him through or not.August 13, 2014 at 8:54 am #327240
As I said in the topic I just created. I’m REALLY tempted to move Harrelson to #1 in drama actor. I think he could be the Barry Pepper of this year. Also, I’ve been so much more impressed by his performance that by McCounaghey’s. Just haven’t gained enough courage yet.August 13, 2014 at 8:59 am #327241
Outstanding Directing & Writing for a Drama Series.
Those are the two categories i am having a tough time with. They are definetly honoring Vince Gilligan on Emmy night. But in which category? Directing or Writing?
A part of me wants to believe Cary Joji Fukunaga will lose the Directing Emmy to Gilligan because of the Breaking Bad farewell crusade that is currently going on.
But than i go and watch the masterful, epic “Who Goes There” . That entire climactic 6 minute sequence is nailbiting, utterly astonishing stuff. It is an impressive unbroken sequence that is still talked about today. That whole episode is just mezmerising.

Tempted to swap the following:
Drama Supporting Actor – From Paul to Dinklage
Comedy Lead Actress – From McCarthy back to JLD (solely based on the fact that she’s JLD because McCarthy’s submission is by far the best here)
Comedy Supporting Actress – From Mulgrew back to Janney (but then probably back to Mulgrew in the final seconds)
Guest Actress Comedy – From Cusack back to Uzo Aduba, but then there’s Laverne Cox.August 13, 2014 at 4:06 pm #327243
Thinking of Mark Ruffolo for number 1 .August 13, 2014 at 8:47 pm #327244
I’m still torn on Movie/Mini Actor because of the Martin Freeman screen time issue. He appears in 50% of the nominees’ submissions this year thanks to being in Fargo and being on Cumberbatch’s submission as well.August 14, 2014 at 10:05 pm #327245
Officially switching to Claire “That Girl” Danes. The recent WTF podcast she did was really the deciding factor. Really cool and smart girl.August 14, 2014 at 11:51 pm #327246
I changed my pick for Variety Series today. The Colbert Report –> The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonAugust 15, 2014 at 12:59 am #327247
Ugh….my comedy predictions are serving up all flavors of wackamole.
Also I couldn’t decide between Margulies and Danes, so I went with Robin Wright.
I might change Drama actor back to Cranston. Might.August 15, 2014 at 2:51 am #327248
I just switched from Billy Bob Thornton to Mark Ruffalo. Please tell me I’m right.August 15, 2014 at 4:13 am #327249

You probably are, but I hope you aren’t
I think its a similar case to Hatfiels and McCoys, where two actors from the same miniseries are equally good, but the Oscar-winner sweeps the awards, so it will be Billy Bob Thornton. But I secretly wish it would be Martin Freeman who winsAugust 15, 2014 at 5:22 am #327250
^I recently made the painful switch from having Martin Freeman winning both to him winning neither (picking Thornton and Bomer). I honestly hope I’m wrong, but I’m trying not to be foolish and think with my personal feelings. It’s the same reason I’m seriously considering changing from Margulies to Danes. The logic is there, but I can’t bring myself to do it just yet…
