It’s tough to say! He has had so many great episodes this season. I love Chicago, it showed great depth and versatility. I think Pepperwood is hilarious, Parking Spot and Table 34 are great episodes, too… See… I can’t decide. I just love him so much. I hope the move to lead works out for him, he was amazing this year, and my favorite person to watch.June 19, 2013 at 6:28 pm #281767
“Menzies” is his best option. It’s his funniest performance, and the funny meter matter nowadays. “Table 34” and “Models” are the only other episodes I could see him having a chance to win with.June 19, 2013 at 6:31 pm #281768
I know that I have difficulty deciding. He was pretty great in “Chicago”, but “Menzies” does seem to be an episode that a lot of people have been talking about over the last few weeks.June 19, 2013 at 6:32 pm #281769
I really want to make a great suggestion but cant think of his best episode….I remember as cood episodes for him: Menzies, Table 34, Parking Spot, maybe Cooler or Eggs? Dont know! Haven´t seen chicago but heard great things about it…unless its a dramatic performance due to the death thing. My best advice is to submit a funy performance…June 19, 2013 at 6:34 pm #281770
Chicago would snuff out his chances. Voters aren’t gonna respond to mediocrity and sentimentality.June 19, 2013 at 6:43 pm #281771
Chicago is too dramatic. Menzies is the best episode for him.June 19, 2013 at 6:56 pm #281772
Voters in lead actor like and emphasize when the nominees have episodes that justify they going big and hilarious in the best way they can be over heart and sentimentality. Even Cryer, who had a sentimental tape last year, falls into this, as he got several scenes are all about him and his performance. This also worked wonders for Baldwin with “Rosemary’s Baby”, when his big moment was brief but laugh-out-loud funny and impactful, and for Jim Parsons both times he has won. They like visual and physical gags. So it has to be “Menzies”, since he completely overshadows everyone else, and has many scenes all to himself to be as hilarious as he can be.June 19, 2013 at 7:24 pm #281773
Oh! I forgot about Menzies!!! Definitely Menzies! Love Tran. And yeah, while I love Chicago, it’s more dramatic than they’d want for comedic awards… I just love that episode…June 19, 2013 at 7:33 pm #281774
I agree with the “Menzies” suggestions, it’s probably his most animated performance this season. But more importantly, I think you should put more stress on not choosing “Chicago”June 19, 2013 at 7:38 pm #281775
Models – Both Touching and HillariousJune 19, 2013 at 7:38 pm #281776
“Chicago” would make a fine tape. So would the episode w/his father coming to town. He was on fire season 2, so pretty much anything from the suggestions here would be strong choices.June 19, 2013 at 8:04 pm #281777
Models is a great episode, and he is excellent in it, but the funniest moment is all Deschanel’s. I agree there’s heart, but even with the great moments with Schmidt, it feels he is 50/50 in terms of importance with Greenfield, and the first thing that tend to comes to mind for people it’s the Ford Fusion moment (that’s really a great tape for Zooey).
And really, not Chicago. Dramatic doesn’t get many wins here usually, and when it does, it’s because there’s extensive previous knowledge of the character/performance or when it comes from a previous winner. I think Johnson needs to make sure he gets the most casual viewer votes as possible, so he needs to bring the funniest he has, and that’s Menzies.June 19, 2013 at 8:36 pm #281778
All I remember from Models is the boob fight scene, what’s even Nick’s storyline in the episode?
I’m not a real fan of the show – in fact i dropped it after Nick/Jess happened – but Menzies was one of the best comedic episodes of the season, it had me laughing out loud. If Jake can beat Cheadle and/or LeBlanc, he can be competitive with this.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantJune 19, 2013 at 8:40 pm #281779
I tnink that “Menzies” is the best choice for Johnson. it has a lot of physical comedy in it, and that has won Emmys for a lot of people (Michael Richards, Jon Cryer, David Hyde Pierce, Jim Parsons, Alec Baldwin, etc.)
