What will be the biggest undeserved win? What victory will make you SCREAM? What if we’re right about an upset by Melissa McCarthy? What if Michelle Dockery prevails (it could happen — her episode is excellent) …August 9, 2014 at 6:54 pm #326855
Hmm… I would be disappointed if Maggie Smith somehow won again for Downton Abbey against Gunn’s best Breaking Bad performance. Similarly, Kerry Washington has a baity episode, but I’ve never been a big fan of her performance, so a win in lead actress would sting.
As far as disappointing results that I’m actually predicting:
– Matthew McConaughey winning lead actor. Sure, he probably has the second best performance in the group — and he did a phenomenal job — but this is the final opportunity to reward Cranston in order to tie him with the most wins in the category. Plus, he submitted an amazing episode that is absolutely fitting for Walter White’s final award.August 9, 2014 at 6:54 pm #326856
Even though it’s expected, I think there will be riots if Modern Family wins Comedy Series again and ties Frasier’s record.August 9, 2014 at 8:45 pm #326858
I love Ellen Burstyn (“Same Time Next Year” is one of my favorite movies), but I would be angry if she wins again this year. Even though she was good in “Political Animals,” Sarah Paulson should have that Emmy. Now this year, any of the five woman besides Burstyn would be deserving winners (hoping for Conroy, but we’ll see).August 9, 2014 at 9:04 pm #326859
I would be upset if Claire Danes wins again, with other better choices available. Yes, she has a good submission, but she doesn’t deserve a third consecutive win for this season.

Even though people are predicting it, if Jim Parsons wins for TBBT (not The Normal Heart, I think he was amazing in that) and Modern Family wins, I will riot.
Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.August 9, 2014 at 9:42 pm #326861
If Parsons, Louis-Dreyfus and Danes all win, I won’t be outraged as much as bored. Let’s move on to newer, fresher faces and stop rewarding the same people over and over again.
If Cranston wins though, I’ll be over the moon. Funny how that works out. 🙂August 9, 2014 at 10:56 pm #326862
Josh Charles not winning (come on you have rewarded the other two frontrunners Dinklage and Paul)
Ricky Gervais winning
Burstyn winning over 5 way better performances
Poehler Emmyless AGAIN
Silicon Valley winning anything
Janney not winning Guest Actress (unless it is Fonda)
Jimmy Fallon goes home with 0 Emmys
Clumsky, Bowen, or McKinnon win Supporting Actress
And just groan worthy:
Modern Family, Danes, Dreyfus, and Paul/Dinklage winning againAugust 10, 2014 at 12:26 am #326863
I will be happy but there will be tons of outrage when Claire Danes wins again. Look at the tapes. Her’s is so superior to anything else that was submitted.August 10, 2014 at 1:12 am #326864
Everyone is so stuck up to shows and what they think.
The biggest outrage is not that whom defeated whom but the other whom was way better.
I have heard the “best submission” and “worst submission” over and over and over I got tired and watched them all to see if the people were right. (I already had the writing categories down)
The reason everyone is saying this person’s tape is amazing is because of crying scenes, mourning scenes and what have you. But the fact is, those scenes don’t really matter (even screaming ones).
The Academy is just a big mess, awarding the people THEY know or love the Emmy that this other person should get. Even if they change the voters and the volunteers every year, it ends up with a show or performer prevailing with the nomination or win one deserves.
The biggest outrage is that the speech of winners would be dumbfounded or just a swift of air (Merrit Weaver).August 10, 2014 at 1:17 am #326865
Speaking from a TV lover’s point of view (my first post was from a critic’s point of view), I would be OUTRAGED by these wins:
True Detective for Best Drama
Matthew McConaughey for Best Drama Actor
Aaron Paul for Best Drama S. Actor
Anna Gunn for Best Drama S. Actress
Orange Is The New Black for every category but Best Comedy Actress and Writing in Comedy
Tony Hale for Best Comedy S. Actor
Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Best Comedy Actress

if anyone beats C Tyson… that would be the biggest outrage/surprise probablyAugust 10, 2014 at 12:50 pm #326867
Jeez what do people here have against Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn winning again??August 10, 2014 at 1:27 pm #326868
Jeez what do people here have against Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn winning again??
I love how if 1 person dares to go against Breaking Bad around here they need to be put on the spot and explain why they feel that way. It’s not like BB doesn’t have hundreds of fans boys on here to cheerlead for you .
I for one think the show and Cranston deserve to win. And it deserves to win Writing. I also am not too keen on seeing Paul or Gunn win again though. I feel Paul has given similiar performances in his submitted episodes. He always gets a big “confrontation” scene with Cranston. I’ve seen it before. I also feel he’s developed a bit of an attitude. For a guy whose relatively young and has won 2 times, he had one hell of an entitled look on his face when Cannavale’s name was announced last year. Goes with other rumors I’ve heard.
Gunn will probably win but I wouldn’t be upset to see any of the others (except the Dame) win.
