Oh wow, sooo many, but pleasant surprises for me would be:

    • Viola Davis
    • Glynn Turman
    • Gwendoline Christie
    • Any Hill House cast member or the show itself
    • Calum Worthy
    • Niecy Nash & Jharrel Jerome
    • Christine Barasnki
    • Griffin Dunne

Emmy voters must bend the knee to Lena Headey & Emilia Clarke for "Game of Thrones." It's their last chance to award them. Make it happen.

One of HBO’s underrated series might become a surprise hit? My Brilliant Friend, True Detective, or The Deuce. I also feel like a Netflix comedy like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt or After Life might perform surprisingly well.

I’d secretly love for Zellweger to get nominated. Because she gave exactly the performance the show demanded from her, which was over the top, ridiculous, campy and at times cartoonish. But that’s what “What/If” is; had she done anything else, she would have felt completely out of place. Of course, the TV academy would never go for such a ridiculous show and performance, which is a shame. I personally don’t think she deserves to be in this year’s top six, but if we were talking about last year’s lineup, then absolutely.

Emmy voters must bend the knee to Lena Headey & Emilia Clarke for "Game of Thrones." It's their last chance to award them. Make it happen.

A Homecoming over-performance would surprise everyone. It feels like no one is predicting it. If it gets series and one of writing/directing, and then both guest acting categories (Chau and Allen White) I’d be happy. Whigham is probably a step too far and Spacek isn’t deserving of a nomination.

But objectively Christie getting in with the self-submission would be the biggest shock above the line.

I don’t know, I have a lot on my odds which always makes me doubtful.

Anyway, I hope the surprising thing on nominations morning is going to an overperformance of The Haunting of Hill House.

Will be rooting for these particular ladies, despite the odds:

    Jessie Buckley (Chernobyl)

    Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard)

The Good Fight in general would be surprising. It could get Series, Actress, Supporting Actress without us really predicting it.

I’ve been wrong multiple times and that might just another of these occasions, lol, but I sense that Schitt’s Creek is getting more and more popular and that might be enough to get some unexpected nominations. I don’t even know if the show is good or not!
