Rose Byrne as supporting for Damages was a little ridiculous.

Especially when she was essentially the Lead in season 1.

Brian Cox and Sarah Snook should have submitted in Supporting for season 1 of Succession.

She was submitted in lead for seasons 1, 2 and 3, and in supporting for 6B. I don’t know in which category she was placed in seasons 4, 5 and 6A. She was probably submitted in lead for the first season because she was the biggest name on the show, while everyone else was relatively unknown.

I think Lorraine Bracco still submitted into lead for season 4 and 5 as well. It seems like I can remember people finally being relieved when she submitted in supporting for the first time for season 6A. It may have been season 5, but I’m almost positive she still submitted as lead for season 4 and know she was in supporting for 6A.

I imagine her status as an Oscar-nominated actress and the fact that several actresses were always submitted in supporting (including ones who would have been guest eligible) made the producers, HBO, or her decide to submit in lead.

I recall Teri Hatcher being submitted for Supporting Actress Comedy in the last season of Desperate Housewives in 2012

Regardless of category, Bracco’s performance in “Employee of the Month” remains an all-time television great.

I wonder if contracts of co-stars can indirectly affect where someone is submitted at the Emmys. Unless I am dreaming, I thought Glenn Close had in her contract for Damages that she is the only one submitted for Lead Actress.

I know it was due to her contract and she was just one of 3 equally ridiculous cases within her own show, but Natasha Lyonne getting nominated for Guest Actress for the first season of OITNB was absolutely ludicrous. She was in literally every episode with significant screen time, she might even have had more screen time than someone like Kate Mulgrew who came close to winning in supporting.

    Same with Uzo Aduba.

The biggest fraud competing in Limited Series will always be Twin Peaks. A third season to a already existing series, featuring the same characters with 18 episodes.

Especially since it’s a film and not a TV show

I want to laugh, but that argument is too infuriating.

Estellte Getty for The Golden Girls. She was in it as much as the other three. I think initially it was done since she was the only one not famous when the show started and they probably thought four nominations in lead was too much to hope for.

Don Cheadle for S2 of Black Monday. 5 episodes in and barely in it, it’s all Regina Hall and Andrew Rannells.

Not exactly fraud since the entire cast was supporting but Emma Roberts in supporting for AHS 1984 is so funny since she is the sole undisputed lead.

This may just be me but I always thought of Ben Whishaw as the co-lead of A Very English Scandal. Grant is obviously the bigger name and the bigger selling point of the show (after all this was his first regular television role in 33 years) but AVES is Norman’s story as much as it is Jeremy Thorpe’s.

Also whilst she didn’t get nominated Anne Reid being submitted in Lead for Years and Years is absolutely ridiculous and quite laughable. I loved Reid and she deserved an Emmy nomination but if T’Nia Miller and Jessica Hynes were more lead than she was on the show. In fact the only person Reid was more lead than was Emma Thompson in terms of the main cast.
