Either for a win or a nomination, what is your craziest Emmy prediction this year?
For me, I have Denis O’Hare winning for “AHS: Hotel.” I think there’s enough love for him in the industry for him to pull off a shocker on Emmy night.June 14, 2016 at 3:16 pm #1201850968This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.June 14, 2016 at 4:57 pm #1201850986
Ilana Glazer for Broad City. The Comedy Lead Actress category is so wide open that I expect a random shocker in there. Kind of like Jemaine Clement sneaking in for Flight of the Conchords that one time.June 14, 2016 at 5:46 pm #1201850999
Kristen Wiig nominated in Mini/Movie Actress for The Spoils Before Dying. She got nominated at SAG for this performance a few months ago, and she was Emmy nominated for its predecessor, The Spoils of Babylon, two years ago in the same category.June 14, 2016 at 9:09 pm #1201851198
*Jaime Camil & Sam Richardson respectively getting into Comedy Supporting Actor for Jane The Virgin & Veep.
*Jussie Smollett getting into Drama Supporting ActorJune 15, 2016 at 12:26 am #1201851239
“Underground” making a strong showing grabbing noms for Drama Series, Directing, Supporting Actress (Amirah Vann), Casting, Costume Design, Makeup/Hair, Music and more.June 15, 2016 at 7:13 am #1201851323
Aden Young for best actor, drama. And a writing nomination for Rectify.June 15, 2016 at 7:40 am #1201851333
I’m hoping that Evan Peters can get a nomination. Mr. March was by far my favorite character.June 15, 2016 at 7:43 am #1201851336
THE AMERICANS!!June 15, 2016 at 10:20 am #1201851392
I’m going for Eva Green in Drama Lead Actress. Tatiana Maslany got in last year, so they’re not completely against actors from fantasy genre shows anymore. She has huge buzz, and great acclaim.
Jon Voight getting into Supporting Actor. I kind of have an open slot, and if Liev Schreiber can get in, why not Voight too?
Maura Tierney in Supporting Actress. Maybe more of a real wish than actual confidence she will get the votes. But maybe a slight shock but pleased because they’re deserving nomination, like we had a couple of times last year.
Lena Dunham & Melissa McCarthy returning to Lead Comedy Actress. Girls had a real revival this year, and she’s the only girl from the show I can see getting in. McCarthy has Ghostbusters on the horizon, and looks like the lead/co-lead, has never had a box office dud, and has a pattern of creeping back in. The open slots from Poehler and Falco will likely go to previous nominees rather than newbies, which there aren’t a vast amount of strong contenders from.
The Dresser in TV Movie. Because why the hell not. Voters may see Hopkins & McKellen’s names attached to this, and go for it, given the TV Movie category isn’t the strongest, it’s possible.
Gaga & Aduba in Limited Series Lead Actress. Name checks in a tough category. If there is one empty slot on a ballot, why wouldn’t voters go for one of these two? Enough voters have enough slots, and we have these two nominated.June 15, 2016 at 10:47 am #1201851403
* Casual for Comedy Series (nomination)
There seems to be one spot that is up for grabs (Veep, Transparent, Modern Family, Silicon Valley, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Black-ish seem pretty certain to me). I think Master of None, The Big Bang Theory, Girls, Mozart in the Jungle will all come up just short to the Hulu series
* Maria Bamford- Lady Dynamite for Comedy Actress (nomination)
Dreyfuss, Tomlin, and Schumer are locks to return. Kemper seems like a safe pick. Two open slots, so I think they return to Melissa McCarthy for the farewell season of Mike & Molly, along with Ghostbusters remake getting plenty of buzz. Lena Dunham could return and newcomer Rachel Bloom might snag a nomination, but I’m not banking on either. Bamford was hilarious in the little-known Netflix comedy, but I think she barely gets in.June 15, 2016 at 3:12 pm #1201851499
I know it wouldn’t be totally crazy, but I think there could be someone else from Game Of Thrones at the supporting actor category besides Peter Dinklage.
Not sure who, but there’s ton of love for it that they could squeeze someone else in there.
Also, Jaime Camil getting a nom for his work in Jane the Virgin.
And last, Modern Family not getting more than 2 or 3 noms this year, it would be a shocker because the Emmys love it but there’s a lot of newcomers this year that could get more noms than Modern Family.June 15, 2016 at 3:54 pm #1201851539This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.June 15, 2016 at 5:39 pm #1201851610
Sophie Turner for Game of Thrones, Dockery or Carmichael for Downton.June 16, 2016 at 5:29 am #1201851701
I don’t think it’s a “crazy” prediction, but I think Vera Farmiga will be back for Bates Motel. Fingers fu*king crossed!
Oh, and this one is perhaps batshit but… Lady Gaga being a double nominee! Best Actress Miniseries/Movie & Best Original Music and Lyrics.
