Since most of the returning shows are affected by the pandemic, there will be more open spots for new dramas at winter guild awards. I’m curious which ones will get in since all of them are not locks at all. I voted for Lovecraft Country, though I just started watching Utopia.

Perry Mason. It exactly fits the mould of Ozark in my opinion as a show with two high profile Leads and a baity premise thar receives a mixed reception due to its slow burn writing style. It also had Tim VanPatten directing it so it isn’t something to be underestimated.

Lovecraft Country is too confusing for voters and too much of a genre show for it to br the most baity despite having a baity cast. Similarly Ratched has the most baity cast in this list and has baity crafts but it’s reviews are too negative. We Are Who We Are is too indie and has terrible ratings and Utopia is too divisive.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I’ve seen Lovecraft Country. It’s even way more ambitious than I imagined and that ambition gets more illuminated with each episode. For me, creatively it’s amazing. Hair & make-up, costumes, effects, editing, sound and music are just some of the stand out elements of the show. It heavily tackles race relations & racism so it’s quite timely.

The Emmys have welcomed dragons, robots and demorgogons in the past decade. This one isn’t any more extraordinary than those shows from what I’ve seen. The actors also deliver strong performances and it’s quite entertaining overall.
