There is really one that can stop Julia Louis-Dreyfus?
Who will be the winner for Drama Series?
Can Ewan McGregor surprise us at Emmys night?
My potential upsets are:
The Crown for Best Drama Series.
Atlanta for Comedy Series.
Anna Chlumsky for Comedy Supporting Actress.
Ewan McGregor for Tv Movie/Limited Series Actor.
What are your potential upsets for the upcoming Emmy Awards Ceremony?August 22, 2017 at 9:00 pm #1202192281
If anybody upsets JLD I think it’d be Adlon. I really want to predict her but I won’t. I really want to though. She is respected an has worked with everybody, she was her shows only nomination which could indicate her performance has passion, and it’d just be fun to predict her.
If anyone upsets Lithgow I think it’d be Patinkin. It would follow the Mendelsohn template. Respected veteran actor that hasn’t won in 22 years, his nomination is so “WTF” that it can’t be counted out (See Peter Scolari), and Homeland fans might be tempted to vote for him since Homeland dropped out from Danes and Series. His win would be undeserved though, and this is coming from a huge Homeland fan.
Supporting comedy actress could easily go to Judith Light but I’m predicting McKinnon.
Comedy actor is a 3 way race IMO between Baldwin, Anderson, and Burgess. I’m predicting Anderson.
I’m predicting upsets from Galifinakias, Matthew Rhys (Girls), Schrieber, Thewlis, and King.
I’m also currently predicting Atlanta to win comedy just for fun until the Creative Arts Emmys. I’ll predict whoever wins casting.August 22, 2017 at 9:13 pm #1202192291
The biggest upsets that I am predicting for the main ceremony based on the odds are:
8. Charlie Brooker
7. David Thewlis
6. Louie Anderson
5. Regina King
4. Chris Kelly & Sarah Schneider & Kent Sublette & Bryan Tucker
3. The Duffer Brothers
2. The Duffer Brothers
1. Ron Cephas JonesAugust 22, 2017 at 9:49 pm #1202192328
I agree with an underlying point in Hunter’s comment – under the new system the hardest part is just to get nominated. If you have passion, then once you’re in pulling off an upset is much more feasible
For that reason I have Adlon in 2nd, I won’t predict her winning but I’d be happy to be wrong.
I think I’m also predicting Anderson and Galifianakis (at least the latter for sure, And he was last in the odds when I first made the prediction)
And I have Master of None in Series because Atlanta underperformed, but if it doesn’t win casting I’ll put whatever wins that.
In drama I don’t think I have anything surprising, although the fact the Differ brothers aren’t first in odds for something seems weirdAugust 22, 2017 at 9:58 pm #1202192346
Without a clear front-runner maybe Anthony Hopkins in Lead Actor, just for the strength of his name.
For Your Emmy Consideration: Best Comedy Series Sex Education, Comedy Lead Actor Asa Butterfield, Comedy Supporting Actress Guillian Anderson, Drama Supporting Actress Miranda Otto for The Chilling Adventure of Sabrina.August 22, 2017 at 10:35 pm #1202192369
I was thinking Hopkins is a possibility too, but I’m still leaning towards Odenkirk. If King is really considered a upset, I’m predicting her.
I’m thinking of predicting Cumberbatch as well but I probably won’t.August 22, 2017 at 10:55 pm #1202192380

I think that the only categories that I am sure who will gonna win is Drama Actress.August 22, 2017 at 11:33 pm #1202192445
My potential upset is Ewan McGregor because he plays two characters and that´s a plus, voters sometimes love that.
But he probably won´t win.August 23, 2017 at 3:22 am #1202192559

Felicity Huffman (it’s her third nomination for the show and she has won a surprise Emmy before) or Carrie Coon (the other sole nominee in the category) over the big names and double-nominees.
