I think everyone here agrees SC has the best shot, but Maisel could very well surprise and win again. I wanna know which show does GD has more passion about.

You should have included Insecure in this poll. Sure it doesn’t have Writing and Directing nominations but it pretty much has support almost everywhere else key and in the current socio-political environment it stands out by being the only show with an all black cast in a race where the two frontrunners have entirely (Schitt’s) or almost entirely (Maisel) white main cast members.

Sure its Writing and Directing snubs may hurt it but we’re in different times this year imo. This being said I have it 3rd.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I did not put Insecure because is not something I’m worrying about. If we were talking about S. Actress or L. Actress I would certanly put it here.

I have SC in first since a long time ago, but I’m worring if Maisel can win not only because it is a more wide watched show (I guess), but also because of its production values and passion towards it.

I do think The Good Place has possibility as well, even though it doesn’t have insane buzz like Schitt’s does.

FYC Oscars: Chloe Zhao (Nomadland), Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Jeremy Strong (Trail of the Chicago 7), Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Soul (Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Screenplay), "No Time to Die" (Best Original Song)

The Good Place in my opinion could potentially win any and possibly even all four of its non Series above the line Emmy nominations this year but I don’t think it’s anywhere near Series with Bell getting snubbed and it missing Directing and Casting. Had it missed one of Directing or Casting and not both I may have been inclined to predict it to win but missing for the Lead on the show who is more principal than the Emmy nominated Lead imo kills its Series chances in a similar way to how Giancarlo Esposito can win but Saul missing Directing, Casting, Banks and Odenkirk kills its chances of taking Series.

I have The Good Place in fifth (behind in alphabetical order Insecure, Maisel, Schitt’s and What We Do in the Shadows).

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

You’re probably right. But I still hold out hope it will win for writing.

FYC Oscars: Chloe Zhao (Nomadland), Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Jeremy Strong (Trail of the Chicago 7), Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Soul (Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Screenplay), "No Time to Die" (Best Original Song)

I agree with this. Yes it didn’t take advantage of the empty field in the same way it did with a packed field last time but it is worth baring in mind that it got 20 nominations for a season that was seen as significantly poorer than its previous outings (a lot of those in categories with Drama series which this year are way more packed than last year) and whilst it is poor on diversity and portrays race in a glorified Hollywood way the introduction of people of colour into this series and the portrayal of institutional racism affecting Brown, McClain and Sykes’s characters as well as the exploration of Midge’s white privilege may give it a bit of an appeal to some voters in this climate (even if one like myself may disagree with how these themes were executed).

I’m predicting Schitt’s because that is how I feel the tide is going (its TCA Program of the Year nomination and critical acclaim shouldn’t be ignored) but we shouldn’t underestimate Maisel. After all it did beat the zeitgeisty buzzy and ridiculously acclaimed season of Atlanta at the Emmys even though it lost the TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy to it.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

The Good Place and Insecure can technically win, but they have a very small chance compared to Maisel and Schitt’s Creek.

Have a great day if you see this!

It’s interesting with Maisel vs Schitt’s Creek because it could either end up being the case that Schitt’s is the THT to Maisel‘s GoT, we could end up with Maisel winning 8 Emmys again and Schitt’s winning as many as Fleabag won or Maisel could be the Atlanta to Schitts’ (ironically) Maisel in 2018.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

Between these two, Schitt’s Creek. But I wouldn’t nominate them, tbh.

Schitt’s Creek winning just Lead Actress and Writing is a possibility.

    Voted for Mrs Maisel.

I was obviously expecting Schitt’s to come out on top but I’m quite surprised it has 27 votes and Maisel has 21 votes because this forum’s never liked Maisel as much as the TV Academy (i.e. we’ve never nominated Marin Hinkle, snubbed Tony Shalhoub for season 1 and have only awarded the show for Brosnahan and Episode of the Year in 2018).

I don’t think it means much but it is interesting nonetheless.
