Witherspoon will appear twice on the ballot for Drama Actress. If you were a voter and you could vote for unlimited choices, would you choose one, vote for both or neither?

    Big Little Lies
Her performance in TMS doesn’t even come close.

Apart from with Emmy voters why would this be a question?

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

    It is an Emmy simulation.

I voted for her spunk in The Morning Show and did not vote Big Little Lies largely because it was so long ago. There were fun things like that speech that Witherspoon did as linked above or that drawing of her being unhinged, but I cannot recall a full performance worth voting for, unlike Laura Dern.

    Between the two BLL.
Her horrid West Viriginian accent on TMS is one for the record books.

Her performance in the first episode of the second season was amazing. She was all over it: blaring the horn at a driver, taking her anger out on Nathan, ignoring the house viewers while on the phone to Renata, facing off with Mary Louise, yelling at Abigail that she doesn’t care about homeless people.

I do think you’re right in that most voters will vote for her more recent work on TMS because BLL aired so long ago. I just hope that doesn’t affect Kidman’s chances.

    Or Nicole Kidman.

I know I made that silly little joke earlier but considering 16 people voted for Big Little Lies and 8 voted for neither, does that tell us about her Emmy chances (I’m saying this as someone who has her 5th for TMS)?

The results are opposite of what I expected.

If I was an emmy voter, I would personally check off both performances. That is why I unfortunately do not see her overcoming vote splitting

    FYC 2020 EMMYS

COMEDY- SCHITTS CREEK in all categories, Maya Rudolph, Eddie Murphy

DRAMA- Killing Eve in all categories, HBC, Cicely Tyson, The Crown in directing

LIMITED- UNBELIEVABLE, Normal People in writing and directing, Toni Collette, Tituss Burgess

    FYC OSCARS- Amy Adams

Emmy voters checking off both performances cannot mathematically be why she vote splits. It is the opposite of vote splitting.

I am very surprised at the result of this poll. I assumed “neither” would lead the way quite substantially.

Why so? I’ve always felt that her BLL performance is much more respected here than elsewhere.

It would be hilarious if she pops up on nomination morning for Big Little Lies when no one has been considering it.
