Sean Bean, Michelle Fairley and Charles Dance were the only ones deserving of wins IMO. Peter Dinklage deserved noms for the first 4 seasons and that’s it. Never liked his overacting. Lena Headey deserved noms for all the seasons and could have won for S1, S2, or S5. Emilia Clarke deserved one nom for s3 and other for S8. Kit Harington never deserved noms. Sophie Turner deserved noms for s5 and s6. Maisie Williams deserved a nom for s2.

Peter Dinklage was amazing in Season 1.

    What seasons?

Season 8. She’s one of the few actors from the show that have actually deserved outright wins in their respective categories (along with Headey and Dinklage in televised categories, and Dance/Pascal/Rigg in guest).

Carice was also nomination-worthy for season 6 but as Riley said the competition that year was insane (King, Dowd, Brenneman, Tyler just from The Leftovers season 2 for example).

I would have nominated Sophie Turner over Emilia Clarke in s6. But the later probably got nominated because she portrays a more popular character.

Carice Van Houten season 6 episode 1 was incredible (the episode in which she brings Jon back to life). But I don’t think she was guest eligible for that season.

Indira Varma in The Queen’s Justice was phenomenal. I can’t believe she wasn’t submitted.

I know we had like 535 villains in the show but we cannot overlook Jonathan Pryce in “Mother’s Mercy”, and his look as Cersei starts her walk… simply diabolical. Damn, fanatics are fucked up.

His scene with Rigg was gold as well.

It’s okay, he’ll get an oscar nom this year to make up for it.

Even though I think Pryce was a miscast, I think he had some great moments. But probably not enough to be nominated in supporting (I’m 99% sure he wasn’t eligible for guest).

Should have been nominated: Sophie Turner (Season 5) Should Have Won: Maisie Williams (Season 5) Should have won: Lena Heady (Season 6) Should Win: Maisie Williams (Season 7)

I think Maisie is a great talent for her age and I don’t blame her at all for it but season 7 was the worst performance of her entire career. I can see high praise for all of seasons 2-4, certain scenes/episodes from seasons  5,6, and 8 but nothing from season 7.  The awful dialogue and characterization for Arya in that season would have been hard for any actress to overcome especially one that is still fairly inexperienced.

Michelle Fairley is the most under-appreciated actress of the entire series. I think her performance as Catelyn measures up to Lena’s Cersei. She definitely at least deserved a nom for season 3.

Van Houten was definitely not guest eligible for season 6. Also Melisandre resurrected Jon Snow in episode 2.

I agree that Varma did a great job in that scene, but I can understand why they didn’t submit her. Ellaria was one of the worst received characters in the entire series. While people didn’t mind her (in fact I think she was somewhat well liked back then) in season 4, from the 5th season onwards, the only characters that received more passionate hatred from the fandom were the Sand Snakes. They probably didn’t want to submit a character that most viewers despised. Another reason why Varma wasn’t submitted was probably because HBO didn’t want anyone taking votes away from Diana Rigg in her final season.
