I feel they are both incredible actors, but who do you think delivered the better performance overall?
IMO Lena Headey is above him due to his lack of things to do in the latest seasons. They both have iconic moments. But Lena Headey has the most defining moment of the TV show (“You Win or You Die”), the incest with Jaime, the entire Blackwater showcase (shoulda been nominated at the Emmys), the “take him” scene, the walk of shame (should have won the Emmy), blowing up the sept of Baelor and torturing Septa in that masterpiece called The Winds of Winter (should have won an Emmy for a second time) and the confrontation with Tyrion in her tape this year. I just wish she wins that Emmy because an ICONIC performance like hers being snubbed would be one of the most hurtful things to TV show fans.
What do you think about it? Who do you prefer?August 2, 2018 at 12:36 pm #1202601423
I don’t really see the need to compare the two because both are the best actors on this show IMO. That being said, Lena Headey is my absolute favorite. Playing the villain is not an easy task, but Headey is marvelous. Her facial expressions, her accent, her delivery – it’s all perfection. She reminds me a lot of Claire Foy and Alexis Bledel because she is able to deliver a believable performance just with her face, like in “The Winds of Winter” or “Mother’s Mercy”.
Dinklage is also amazing. First of all, his British accent is excellent and you can’t tell that he’s actually American. Overall, he probably has the most material. He gets to give speeches, he gets to make jokes and much more. Sometimes, he is also the comedic relief on the show.
This year, both chose their best episode IMO and I couldn’t be happier.

I like Dinklage more, but if I had to chose only 1 to win this year it would be Headey for lack of trophies thusfarAugust 2, 2018 at 1:01 pm #1202601431
Dinklage has the better performance from seasons 1-4 but Headey has been the best actor on the show since season 5 in my opinion.August 2, 2018 at 1:35 pm #1202601450
Dinklage gets to show a little more charm and charisma, but I think Headey is better actor and gives the more challenging, nuanced performance. Her performance in the Blackwater episode is for me probably my top single episode performance of any actor on this show, any season, and it’s I’m still better she didn’t get nominated for the emmy (although it would have put her in competition with Christina Hendricks with The Other Woman and I would’ve had to Sophie’s Choice who I got more mad about losing to Maggie Smith)August 2, 2018 at 1:39 pm #1202601451
Tyrion has been on a steady decline since season 5 while Cersei has always been great. So LenaAugust 2, 2018 at 1:40 pm #1202601452
Dinklage is the better actor.August 2, 2018 at 3:30 pm #1202601514
Lena Headey gave the best performance of the whole series on Mother´s Mercy and also the second best on The Winds Of Winter so I´ll go with her.August 2, 2018 at 4:47 pm #1202601565
Dinklage is better due to having been consistently more amazing. He had 2 win-worthy Emmy episodes in Season 7 alone with “Eastwatch” and “The Dragon and the Wolf.” Headey took a few seasons to really great with the emotional layers, but once she did she owned it with the material she was given. Also, like Marco B said, Dinklage is simply the better actor in general.August 2, 2018 at 5:30 pm #1202601577
Headey easily, I agree with the sentiment about the Blackwater snub, and I’ve always thought she was the best performer on the show for the entirety of the series, I’m sure that testament will remain true through her final Scene of the seriesAugust 2, 2018 at 7:43 pm #1202601642
Both deserve 2 wins, Dinklage for ’11 & ’14, Headey for ’15 & ’16.
I’d give Dinklage the edge because I think he has been great all along and Headey got good in the second season, not the first.
