I know she wasn’t guest in any of the seasons (could’ve been but dumb & dumber decided not to bring her back) but since we are talking about HBO’s inability to get their cast members nominated, talk about the tragedy of her not winning for season 3

Tbf, Clarke got in over her. HBO still managed to get one of their actors nominated in the category. They just chose the wrong one.

The number two worst snub of the show right next to Headey.

I really think Carice could be eligible for Guest this season. Hopefully she has the material and is submitted.

She was good, but that’s definitely an exaggeration IMO. She’s not even in my top 5 performances of that season (I’d rank her below Coster-Waldau, Rigg, Turner, Dormer, and Leslie). Her snub that year is nothing compared to Coster-Waldau’s snub the same year, Dance’s snub for Season 1, Pryce’s snubs for Seasons 5 and 6, Williams’s snubs for her 4 best seasons, Pascal’s snub for Season 4, Turner’s snub for Season 6, etc. She had 3 great scenes (her monologue about Jon, her father’s funeral, and the Red Wedding), but she really didn’t do much outside of those.

On tapes (which many users still judge by) none of those examples apart from Coster-Waldau’s (and arguably Dance in Guest) were better than Fairley’s The Rains of Castamere tape. Ultimately she missed for the reasons you implied – lack of screentime/an arc across the season.

That’s fair. She definitely had one of the best tapes of anyone in Game of Thrones. However, I would say that Dormer’s tape that season was at her level, though she also had a lack of screentime and an arc.

Maybe not, but Charles Dance, David Bradley, Tobias Menzies, Clive Russell, and other decently well-known actors weren’t even submitted, and plenty of actors who are lower-profile than them get nominated all of the time.

HBO probably won’t prioritize “decently well-known actors” (and even I don’t recognize some of these names). Max von Sydow and Diana Rigg are big names. All I’m saying is if Shirley Knight or Alfre Woodard (big guest actor names) guest started here, they would be high on the contender list.

Maybe. But HBO not even submitting people like Charles Dance is inexcusable, especially when actors like Paul McCrane, Dan Bucatinsky, Cameron Britton, Ben Feldman, and Rupert Friend who are much lower profile have been nominated for and even won guest acting Emmys.

I rewatched season 3 recently and Michelle Fairly didn’t really have anything to do besides the red wedding.
