    She’s 94.

She’s been nominated 18 times and never won.

Had the #1 show for many years in the 80’s.

And as this year showed they likely won’t nominate her again.

So…what is the TV Academy waiting for?

She was inducted into the TV Academy Hall of Fame. That is the biggest honor they offer.

Murder, She Wrote was never #1 in any season. The highest it ever placed for a season was #3 in it’s 2nd season 1985-86. Of it’s 12 seasons it was in the top 10 for 8 of them. For 3 seasons it dipped just below the top 10 never going lower than #13. It’s last season in 1995-96 was it’s lowest at #58 when CBS changed the day of week it played for a bit.

It’s sunday morning and I had nothing better to do than google this info. Obviously the show was a major hit, which of course is the point you were going for. 🙂

Eighteen nominations and no wins? That is a tragedy…

I think Angela’s best chance was in 1986. I think her submission involved her playing 2 different characters. I think that she played her cousin. Sharon Gless finally won her first Emmy for Cagney & Lacey, but her submission was okay. I thought that Sharon Gless should have won in 1987 (which she did) and in 1988 where she submitted the episode where she was raped – she lost to Tyne Daley who won her 4th Emmy.

It seems Lansbury in Murder, She Wrote was sort of like being the main character on NCIS or CSI or something. It seems like it was just one of those safe shows even though it was about murder.

A spot in the TV Academy Hall of Fame is fine.

But when Dame Lansbury wakes up at 2am to take a leak, I think she should have the dignity of passing an Emmy statue on her mantle.

They give honorary Emmys to Daytime stars on soaps that never won (2 from Days of Our Lives this year).
