I just realize that if Linney wins for ”Ozark”, she will have Emmys in Drama, Comedy (Frasier) and Miniseries (Wild Iris, John Adams and The Big C) categories.
As far as my research went, the only other performer to have awards in those genres is:
– Comedy: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series (Malcolm in the Middle, 2x)
Outstanding Single Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Comedy or Drama Series (Mary Tyler Moore 2x)
– Drama: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series (Promised Land)
– Limited: Outstanding Single Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (A Brand New Life)
+ she two awards in Variety categories.
– Ed Asner has Emmys for Comedy and Drama categories (both for Lou Grant) and has one Emmy for ”Roots”, but he won in a ”guest” category. Does it count as a win for Limited? If so, I know those two people.
Is there anyone missing?August 12, 2020 at 1:40 pm #1203642197
Yes I am very confident she will winAugust 12, 2020 at 1:43 pm #1203642206
She just doesn’t stop being iconic does she.August 12, 2020 at 1:49 pm #1203642219
Wow, I had no idea the field was that small for performers breaking into all 3!
I really, really want that Emmy to go to Laura Linney or Jennifer Aniston. That way Linney can become the second/third to join that club or Aniston can become the second person ever to win Leading trophies for Comedy and Drama (Edie Falco being the first).August 12, 2020 at 2:09 pm #1203642271
Uzo Aduba won Comedy Guest Actress and Drama Supporting Actress for OITNB. She could win for Mrs. America.August 12, 2020 at 2:11 pm #1203642277

It would be amazing, but need to say that her win for The Big C SEASON 4 in the limited category over Jessica Lange for Asylum still hurts.August 12, 2020 at 2:35 pm #1203642319
If Sterling K. Brown wins for Maisel he also will join the list.

So will Andre Braugher if he wins for Brooklyn Nine-Nine (which he should tbh).August 12, 2020 at 2:50 pm #1203642385
I LOVE that three other performers could join Leachman in this select group.August 12, 2020 at 2:57 pm #1203642425
If she doesn’t win for this season she probably will for another. Her material will only get baitier in the final parts!August 12, 2020 at 2:59 pm #1203642437

Especially considering that for at least one of the parts of season 4 Ozark will get more of a push because of how The Crown will be taking a year off.
FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"August 12, 2020 at 3:18 pm #1203642498
And even though the Mini-Series and TV Movie categories are joined, she’d then be the only one to have won for Drama, Comedy, Mini-Series and TV Movie performances. Legend! I hope it happens.August 12, 2020 at 3:42 pm #1203642533

Those four hours of The Big C were actually quite great. So sad, bittersweet. The writing wasn’t always solid on that show, but damn did they stick the landing. Especially the last episode…
