The Tonight Show would then be hosted by Seth (who would likely close the ratings gap between Colbert) “Late Night” at 12:35am could be given John Mullaney
This needs to happen. Not sure if it will but Fallon is so unfunny and Myers and Mulaney are so talented. In fact Myers tackled the pandemic better than any talk show host on any network (apart from maybe Trevor Noah).

It might last until the election, since I’m guessing it will be politically based. I could easily see a changing of the guard with “The Tonight Show” in five years or less. Fallon is yesterday’s news. It’s not surprising that his ratings are tumbling and the Emmys couldn’t care less.

I mean the fact that Colin Jost and Michael Che hosted the Emmys when they were last on NBC and not Fallon should suggest that.

October 7, 2020 at 3:55 pm #1203765904Fallon’s a terrible host, so I’m perfectly fine with Seth Meyers getting the top slot instead.

Jimmy’s contract is up September 2021
I don’t see a “changing of the guard” happening during a pandemic.
But I could see something changing by 2024 (Fallon’s 10th Tonight Show Anniversary)
That’s why I said within five years time.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 7, 2020 at 4:23 pm #1203765971Why doesn’t Seth just stay on the Late Show and Mulaney gets Fallon’s job at Tonight Show. Seth is perfectly fine where he is, and Mulaney fits the Tonight show mood far more than Seth does. But, I think we can all agree, John Mulaney needs a talk show.
