Jimmy Fallon is one I’ll watch occasionally. I could never watched him every night….he annoys me yet I like him. Just very weird how he talks more than his guests

I actually liked Fallon when he had the later time slot. When he moved up to the earlier time, something shifted, and he became harder and harder to watch.

I kind of worry that the same thing might happen to Meyers if he was given the earlier slot. I like his current show — I think it really works for him. If he switched time slots, they’d probably try to alter the formula of the show a bit (like they always seem to do), and I don’t think that’d be a good move.

I understand Lilly Singh has not been great, but I hope the networks don’t give up having more women host late night shows. I like John Mulaney, but there are sooo many white dudes on (broadcast) late night….

Fallon’s Tonight Show had some big success because they hit upon a gimmick with Jimmy playing grabass with the celebrities.   The novelty had to run out eventually, and when it did, there’s nothing left there.  They would be smart to phase him out.

Meyers can’t get the prime time slot. The entire reason his show works so well is because he has the late night hour, which means a more liberal spin and more independent/artsy guest. Let Fallon keep Millie Bobbie Brown and continue giving Meyers more interesting guests like Jaqueline Novack or Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider.

Ten Years from Now – Late Night might go something like this….

The Tonight Show with Seth Meyers

    Late Night with John Mulaney

CBS – The Late Show with Trevor Noah

    ABC – Hasan Minhaj Live

Kimmel is going to Johnny Carson this and be there for a very long time. Hasan to replace Fallon would be great in ten years though

Fallon is rubbish. I recently watched old Johnny Carson footage and can’t believe how much Fallon has destroyed the prestige. Surely lack of nominations means something to the network? I love the idea of Mulaney hosting and keep Meyers in Late. I didn’t know much about SNL history until the last year (we don’t get it where I live) and I just thought Meyers was the ‘smart, dry, political’ late night guy, sort of Jon Stewart-lite, but usually quite impressive in the clips that would make the news where I live. Knowing that he was SNL-fluff kind of dampened that! I prefer him when he’s mean.
