Was looking at the Creative Arts and Westworld is winning these Emmys no matter what:
    1. Makeup
    2. Production Design
    3. Prosthetic Makeup
    4. Sound Editing
    5. Visual Effects

Even if it loses series, it can win the following because of vote-splitting:
    6. Picture Editing

    It is certainly competitive for:
    7. Interactive Media
    8. Sound Mixing

It is in some open races:
    9. Cinematography
    10. Costumes
    11. Theme Music
    12. Title Design

Most of us have at the main ceremony:
    13. Supporting Actress

Game of Thrones won nine at the Creative Arts last year.  Even if you are not predicting Westworld for Outstanding Drama Series, you might still predict it to beat Game of Thrones‘ record if you predict every category, largely just because it is such a bigger production than the likes of The Handmaid’s Tale and Stranger ThingsGame of Thrones won six the year that it had only twelve nominations and was snubbed in writing and directing.  Westworld has twenty-two nominations.

If you are predicting it to win Outstanding Drama Series, the last two years tell us that it will also pick up:
    14. Casting
    15. Directing
    16. Series
    17. Writing

    I think Westworld will win:

    Sound Mixing

    Sound Editing

    Prosthetic Makeup

    Visual Effects

    Production Design

    I think it will lose:

Main Title Design to American Gods

Main Title Theme Music to Stranger Things (Unfortunately, since I find the Westworld theme infinitely more complex and memorable.)

    Costume Design to The Crown

    Cinematography to Stranger Things

Interactive Media Program to Stranger Things

    Casting to Stranger Things

Non-Prosthetic Makeup to Vikings (Although I am seriously considering switching to Westworld on this one, I haven’t yet and may not.)

Picture Editing to either Better Call Saul “Chicanery” or Stranger Things “Chapter Seven: The Bathtub” (I still haven’t decided yet!)

Supporting Actress to Millie Bobby Brown “Stranger Things”

Supporting Actor to John Lithgow “The Crown”

Lead Actress to Elisabeth Moss “The Handmaid’s Tale”

Lead Actor to Sterling K. Brown “This Is Us”

Directing to Reed Morano “The Handmaid’s Tale”

Writing to Gordon Smith “Better Call Saul”

    Series to Stranger Things

What’s the record for most wins in a first season again? The West Wing with 9? Westworld certainly shouldn’t have much trouble getting close to that.
Edit: Might as well bother predicting specific categories – I think a Westworld win is likely or possible for:

Makeup (x2), sound editing and mixing, production design, visual effects, supporting actress and at least one of title design and theme music.

Costumes and Cinematography are too open to call and I don’t know enough about Interactive Media. Picture Editing is where I’m wondering if Better Call Saul picks up a win because that branch has always seemed to watch it and this season has renewed attention (even though I’m going against my own instincts assuming that vote-splitting won’t matter)

You would be correct, UNLESS Westworld under-performs spectacularly in wins, which I predict it will. Stranger Things is more universally beloved and less polarizing, and I suspect it will beat Westworld is quite a few categories, including Supporting Actress, Series, and possibly Picture Editing.

Given the show’s 22 nomination, I won’t be surprised if the show will also have the most wins this year especially in Creative Arts.

Speaking of Creative Arts, if the show will win a lot especially in the categories that are open races, I might predict it for an upset in the Drama Series categories or even picking up some nods like Supporting Actress, Lead Actress (I think Wood has a chance here) and Directing.

Lead Actress for me is a five-way race. I just don’t see Wright winning here.

yeah, 6 for 6. did it in 2011 too.

Actually, if I looked correctly, Mad Men 2012 is the only time this century that a drama got Series/L Actor & Actress/S Actor & Actress/G Actor & Actress/Writing/Directing. And it lost.

And the last time a comedy got all 9 was Glee S1. And it lost. Hmm.

I don’t see it beating the record, but will likely be the most rewarded show this year and will definitely come close.

At most, “Westworld” will win 5 or 6 only in craft/tech categories… It’s best (and I think only) hope at the Big Ceremony is Thandie Newton. However, I’m pretty sure she will lose out to Chrissy Metz.

Directing, supportig actress, Casting (look at that cast: Hopkins, Harris, Wood, Wright, Santoro, Barnes, Marsden) it has caché a movie power; Sound Editing, Picture Editing, Visual Effects, Production Design.

Possible: Sound Mixing, Cinematography, Main Title Design, Prostetic Make Up, Hairstyling

If it had won SAG I’d predict it for Casting. Since Stranger Things won that and is my Series pick it’s my choice there

So did Veep. I’m not trying to make a link solely between SAG Ensemble and Casting, but also acknowledge the trend from the last two years where Casting has also been closely linked to Series. If you’re predicting Westworld for Series it seems logical to pick it for Casting too, same for other shows which is why I have Stranger Things for both.
