It’s my first time in this thread and I’m surprised with people mentioning James Spader, who would easily be in my top 3 in the early century. Maybe the third one could have gone to Gandolfini, since it was Soprano’s last season and Boston Legal wasn’t at it’s peak, but not the first two.

The worst win has to be Game of Thrones last year, not only due to quality, but also because of the situation. Having series postponing their seasons to after the elegibity period because they knew no matter how good they were and how bad GT was, they wouldn’t stand a chance, was a disgrace.

Definitely Game of Thrones final season.

Ben Mendelsohn for the second season of Bloodline confuses the hell out of me though.

Big fan of Better Call Saul, Sex Education, Barry, BoJack Horseman, and, especially, Survivor

Friends is not overrated.  I agree Jennifer was not the best part of the show,  lisa kudrow and david schwimmer were better. But friends as a show is one the greatest show of all time and it’s overgrowing popularity proves it as it is still most loved show around the globe despite being 26 years old.

Jennifer Aniston should have won more than one Emmy for Friends – she was criminally underrated during the first years.
Lisa Kudrow had te best comedic timing but Jennifer was the most complete actress of the cast (like she’s showing these days), she perfectly balanced comedy and drama, and with no surprise she’s the only one of the cast who became an icon.

I think the entire cast was strong and underrated, with maybe Matt Le Blanc being the weakest link.

Going to let this slide for now.

Three things this account has done recently: Recommended the final episode of The Good Place, started thread “San Diego ComicCon at Home: No Live Video Panels”, and stated Fleabag being too short to win.
Seems all too similar with someone.

Veep winning over Atlanta season 1. Maisel winning over Atlanta season 2.

But Veep season 6 and Maisel season 1 are better seasons…

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

FYC Goldderby Awards : MAURA TIERNEY AND DOMINIC WEST FOR THE FINAL SEASON OF THE AFFAIR

I’ve made my opinion on Veep pretty clear in the past (seen about half a dozen episodes over the years and it’s fine, not my cup of tea) so take this with a grain of salt, but at the time wasn’t its 6th season perceived as somewhat underwhelming among critics and on these forums? Especially after season 5 was apparently its best yet despite changing showrunners.

The Maisel year is a bit tougher because both its first season and Atlanta season 2 are amazing for different reasons. I will say that Maisel feels more like something the Emmys would typically reward (which is evidenced by it winning 8 awards for season 2 and being a Series frontrunner in season 3). By contrast, I’m worried that Atlanta will never truly get its due. There are probably plenty of voters who simply find it weird and dismiss it; Robbin’ Season was almost shut out after all.

I am confident that if Atlanta is eligible next year and Maisel misses because of coronavirus that it has a fighting chance.

It had comparable reviews to that of both the fifth season and Atlanta’s first. Both shows would have made great winners and were equally deserving in my eyes.

Atlanta S2 deserved over Maisel though. That snub was just ridiculous.

I’d say Atlanta should’ve won directing and writing with Teddy Perkins (though it wasn’t nominated for the latter I believe), but I’d have given Maisel series alongside its acting wins. I’m also glad that Katt Williams took guest actor, as he was hilarious and had some genuine pathos to his work.

I remember I originally really wanted Glover to win for Teddy Perkins, but I’m happy it was Hader, as his performance was consistently excellent, while most of Glover’s acting hype that year being for Teddy Perkins.
