In my opinion it should’ve been Elisabeth Moss that year.

    Interesting. How so?

I loved Moss’s performance that season (although I think her best performance in Mad Men is undoubtedly in The Suitcase) but imo I felt that under the tape system Hendricks should have been undeniable. I mean the range she showed in the episode was immense, her line delivery was incredible and you sort of see Joan as more of a human and vulnerable and multi-faceted character than you had ever seen her before in the show. One could argue that before this episode or arguably before the end of season 2 that Joan wasn’t a very developed character — she was more of a minor sort of bit part (that’s not the best way to explain her but I don’t know how to explain her pre season 3 otherwise).

It’s actually why I think Panjabi deserved to win the following year rather than for the first season of The Good Wife coincidentally. Kalinda was a very interesting character in the first season of the show like Joan was in the first two seasons of Mad Men but Panjabi didn’t have much to deal with in the first season whilst in the second one wow she was just immense (if you haven’t seen the second season of The Good Wife you should check it out purely for her performance).

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I don’t judge based on episodes specifically. I base who should win on the overall season, in which I found Moss to be better.

Hmm I still might disagree with you on that one (I found Hendricks to be better) but then again I haven’t seen season 3 of Mad Men in a long time.

Season 6 was extremely deserving of the Emmy. It was a very groundbreaking season and the best one of the show. I do agree that it didn’t deserve to win writing for “Battle of the Bastards” but it deserved everything else. Not to mention, both Lena and Kit shouldve won their categories.

Lena maybe, Kit Harington did absolutely nothing worthy of praise in that season imo (or heck throughout the entire show).

The one winning Supporting Actor that year should be unnominated Michael McKean, but Emmys gonna be Emmys lol.

Imo other than two episodes – The Winds of Winter and Battle of the Bastard (which was a good spectacle), everything else was meh with occasional atrouciusness inserted (lmao the Dorne plot). Also really you think it’s the best season? Better than seasons 3 & 4? I can’t wrap my head around this opinion haha.

No. Just no. The resolution to Arya’s faceless men storyline was arguably more nonsensical than anything that happened in season 8, the writing and plotting were generally poor and everything in season 6 felt inconsequential despite packing the highest number of major plot points in a single season. The ending of episode 5 (hold the door), episode 9 and the opening sequence in episode 10 really masked major weaknesses.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

Season 3 and Season 6 are by far my favorite seasons but I slightly prefer the latter. Season 4 was amazing as well but I definetly prefer the other two. We can’t always agree on everything but I’ve heard a good amount of fans saying season 6 is also their favorite. But I do agree that Arya’s plot was the weakest part of the season.

I’m not sure if everyone remembers this, but Hendricks was actually absent from a decent amount of that season. She was still a big role, but it was probably her smallest role outside of maybe the first season.

GoT didn’t deserved the Emmy in 2016, not because they had a mediocre season, but because The Americans best season was right there.

    Martha ******** ** *******, Nina **********, the aftermath of the talk…
The Americans season 4 is just perfection.

I love it, I love it, I love it, but I also have my problems with it.

Nicole Kidman is amazing in Moulin Rouge!

The film won the Golden Globe and the PGA for Best Motion Picture

Game of Thrones best seasons were 1-3. Its decline started with season 4 – which was just “ok” – and it became a fanfic (terrible writing, though with great direction and great performances).

I feel like GoT‘s win for its seventh season was worse than its eighth. I mean sure it didn’t deserve to win over either Pose or Succession s1 but its kind of laughable how The Crown season 2 and The Americans season 6 delivered some of the best seasons on television since 2000 at the time and lost to a show that delivered one of its worst seasons. I mean even Handmaid‘s s2 and Stranger Things s2 were more deserving and I haven’t seen This is Us s2 but considering how that one’s meant to be better than This is Us s1 and how This is Us s1 > GoT s8 I’d say that deserved to win over GoT s7 too.

Why’d Bobby Canavale beat Aaron Paul and Jonathan Banks in 2013? That win seems really random to me.

I will never get over Jim Parsons winning so many times for cartoonish drunk performances over Steve Carell and Matt LeBlanc.

I think 2013 was a weak year for that category and he’s an actor they love with a showy performance.
