Miguel Sapochnik’s Battle of Winterfell episode expected to actually be nearly fearue length- 82 minutes! This episode will make history, definitely the frontrunner in Directing now that The Crown is not competing.

It’s not like it wouldn’t stand a chance with The Crown eligible. Last year the vote-splitting was real. “The Spoils of War” was snubbed and there was no consensus for which 1 was better between “Beyond the Wall” and “The Dragon and the Wolf”, considering lots of people hated the first due to its sloppy writing.

If This Is Us manages to break into one of these, I would consider it safe for a nomination in 2020.

I assume that This is Us is in the black-ish position where it is never going to get nominated for writing and it is never a factor in directing. I think that the writers and directors want their nominees to be have some prestige, so they are more likely to go for something like Ozark (or Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), even if it is mediocre.

    Bump. Where we at?

I will hold off on posting a new set of predictions because all that has changed is that The Crown is skipping and Fosse/Verdon sucks. There has been zero movement in comedy and the shows with unknown episode titles and quality are mostly still just as unknown. Killing Eve moves into my writing predictions, which goes against my narrative that this second season is going to suck, but what else is there?

Imagine if Wright landed a nom for directing the series finale of HoC as a consolation prize for what happened with the show. Imagine even the show getting nominated for Series and Supporting Actress (Clarkson or Lane) other than Actress and Supporting Actor (Kelly).

So I don’t see how GOT and Barry could slip in three noms in Drama and directiong. I have a feeling that if loved by the Academy in nominations , if Bodyguard gets a writing nom, it wins and beats Thrones. I think GOT and TbT will get directing nods but I think all the comedy races are mainly battles between Mrs Maisel and Veep. I think we’re underestimating Maniac here

FYC Emmys 2019 : Phoebe Waller–Bridge ("Fleabag") for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, Sandra Oh ("Killing Eve") for Best Actress in a Drama Series, Bradley Walsh ("Doctor Who") for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Keeley Hawes ("Bodyguard") for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, "Maniac", "A Very English Scandal" and "Killing Eve" in all eligible categories.

I respectfully suggest you’re underestimating Jeremy Bearimy from The Good Place in both comedy categories here, considering it was nominated for the Nebula Award’s highest honor, the Ray Bradbury Best Dramatic Presentation trophy. That was, to that point for me, the show’s answer to Atlanta’s Teddy Perkins in off the chain great stuff.

Her acting and directing is really the only thing that deserves anything, and I’d be fine with a directing nom since all those season 4 snubs. As ridiculous as the season/finale was, her direction was amazing, with the camera work at it’s best in the season, but the script was just godawful and undermined it.

The Academy should avoid anything related to House of Cards…there’s nothing remotely award worthy in that awful final season if anything the Academy should give a honorary Emmy to Kevin Spacey as an apology for being forced out the final season which led to that terrible thing starred by Robin Wright.

For Your Emmy Consideration: Best Comedy Series Sex Education, Comedy Lead Actor Asa Butterfield, Comedy Supporting Actress Guillian Anderson, Drama Supporting Actress Miranda Otto for The Chilling Adventure of Sabrina.

I wouldn’t be surprised if The Good Place got a writing nom, as its writing has always been known as its strong suit, but I don’t think it has a chance at directing. The directing is fine, but nothing special or nom-worthy, let alone win-worthy. It’s going to be Maisel again this year, with Veep as the only possible spoiler, and everyone’s just going to have to accept that. And by the way, “We’re Going to the Catskills!” has some of the best directing I’ve seen in a TV show, ever. There aren’t words to explain how visually stunning everything in that episode was.

This is getting ridiculous… I love the good place but there is nothing impressive about the direction. Are you even watching the Marvelous Mrs Maisel?
