Again another list where Unorthodox is missing.

Why were you expecting it to make all of the lists? It wasn’t a critics-driven show.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

It’s one of the most acclaimed (and widely seen) shows of the year and critics were raving about it.

It was actually under-reviewed. Not many critics picked it up when it dropped. For example, it only has 11 reviews on Metacritic in comparison to something like Mrs America’s 42 reviews. Then it completely blanked at TCA. These were clear indicators that it probably wouldn’t do well on year end lists. It was a word of mouth hit with Netflix audiences, but it was never something that critics really got behind.

Wow at Better Call Saul, this show never stops the strike with critics.

Now let’s see if that is reflected by IMDY’s awards haul….

    Aaaaaand where are:

Little Fires Everywhere, The Undoing, Homecoming and Westworld????

Sorry but Homecoming season 2 was a massive disappointment (coming from someone who thought season 1 was revelatory). The Undoing is too recent (notice that The Crown hasn’t featured in any list so far despite better reviews), Westworld season 3 was poor and Little Fires Everywhere had too many weaknesses to be in contention for this.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

I’m more surprised by the lack of Schitt’s Creek and PEN15.

High Fidelity is highly deserved. Zoe Kravitz should also have been in contention for awards.

    Haven’t seen it.

It was more me being shocked that a show that was cancelled got in some critics lists over the Drama series frontrunner that’s one of the most acclaimed seasons of a show in contention this year but then again some of these lists were published just when The Crown was or before The Crown was released.

I’m sure Zoe Kravitz is excellent. She always is. I’m looking forward to her outacting Michelle Pfeiffer and Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman in the upcoming Batman film lol.

Totally agree, and High Fidelity is a thousand times better than The Crown

Anyone who has watched the original would know how big of a cheap rip off Hulu’s High Fidelity is. It’s umimgainative in expanding upon its source material and doesn’t even have a voice of its own. And all of that makes its existence even more glaringly unnecessary. I’m honestly baffled by the responses here.

If you want to start with this show @wolfali, I’d recommend watching the classic Stephen Frears film first because I’m positive you won’t find it worth your time after that.
