Oh, I like Sarah Lancashire. I’ve only watched her in working class-type roles, but I’m assuming she’s done more “posh” characters at some point?
And as noted earlier, I’m also curious about the timeline for seasons five and six. Season four ends in 1990(?), and I’m assuming season 5 will include Diana’s 1997 death. If season 5 ends on her death, they could theoretically spend season 6 on the aftermath of her death and then the death of Queen Mother and Princess Margaret. William and Harry will have to be a part of Diana’s death story, but they’ll probably limit their roles.

I’m thinking in terms of timeline :
Season 5 – 1990 – 1997
Season 6 – 1997 – 2002ReplyCopy URLFYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")
October 29, 2020 at 10:27 am #1203809463I know she hasn’t acted since 2005 but Patricia Routledge (Talking Heads, Keeping Up Appearances) would make a great Queen Mother. It also helps that the age gap between her and Imelda is very similar to that of Queen Liz and her mother.

I’m curious because there’s a new controversy brewing about Martin Bashir’s infamous 1995 interview with Diana, which I’m guessing will be covered in season 5.
It is alleged that Bashir’s team created fake bank statements to make it look as though two senior couriers were being paid to provide information on Diana to security services. Bashir showed these statements to Diana’s brother, who then introduced Bashir to his sister…eventually leading to the interview.
I may be misunderstanding, but the whole thing sounds incredibly shady. Another article says the BBC has officially launched an investigation.

She already has been on the show as The Queen Mother.
Also Joe Alwyn is too pretty to play Prince Andrew

Why isn’t Jonathan Pryce named? maybe he’s not longer involved?

Holy mother, I don’t remember Tony Blair being that hot.

Yeah, Dominic West and Andrew Scott are… generous castings (West in particular feels a bit of a miscast, but I’ll reserve judgement for when S5 airs). I love Andrew Scott so I’m here for it, although isn’t he shooting that Talented Mr Ripley reboot for Showtime soon?
Dream casting for the new series? Sian Clifford as Anne. Sally Phillips as Camilla.
ReplyCopy URLApril 8, 2021 at 2:46 am #1204185501I was rooting so hard for it to be David Tennant!
Andrew Scott is like a chameleon so I have no doubt he’ll be excellent in the role (maybe he’ll sweep like Gillian Anderson and John Lithgow!) but I can’t at all these hot people being cast as these Prime Ministers. First Anderson and now Scott!
At least this could be a vehicle for his overdue Emmy!
