We may have only just begun the 2019-20 season, and already, we have announcements regarding next season. The creative team has just been announced for the upcoming Soul Train musical. The production is planning a Broadway premiere in 2021 in celebration of the landmark series’ 50th Anniversary.

Which includes Jefferson Mays as Mayor Shinn, Jayne Houdyshell as Mrs. Shinn, Marie Mullen as Mrs. Paroo, and Shuler Hensley (who previously worked with Hugh in the 1998 London production of Oklahoma! and Sutton twice) as Marcellus Washburn.

Tickets go on sale next weekend, but no theater announced yet. Everyone assumes it’s taking the Winter Garden, but it’s hard to sell tix with no seating chart. Maybe they’ll announce next week.

This could well end very badly.

Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see how the impact of Leaving Neverland will impact this show at the box office.
