Even though Scott Rudin doesn’t have any involvement with the current Broadway revival of The Music Man anymore, the producers are doing something similar to what he did with his production of The Front Page from a few years ago. Mainly that critics won’t be coming to review it until opening night.

Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen will play a limited 10-week run at Broadway’s John Golden Theatre beginning on April 10th.

This play was previously in the middle of previews when Broadway shutdown, and the producers announced shortly thereafter that it wouldn’t be coming back. My how times have changed.

MJ the Musical has opened. Within the last few weeks, people have been praising the book in the message boards of BroadwayWorld as one of the best ever written for a jukebox/biomusical. Meanwhile, Critics haven’t responded as favorably to it.

As a Square One TV fan I’m glad Toni DiBuono’s in the show. When I attended North Country they said it was moving to the Broadhurst, so I suppose that leaves the Imperial and Shubert, not to mention the Cort and the Palace when they reopen. I suppose Sing Street would be a good fit for the Cort.

The Hugh Jackman-led revival of The Music Man has finally opened. Reviews are coming in. So far, some critics liked the production, though others don’t seem to think that it lives up to the enormously high expectations.

I totally agree with the reviews. I found the show unexciting and bland with only a few moments of a great Broadway show. Hugh Jackman was the best part of it, but even he couldn’t save the show. I don’t see Company losing the Best Revival Tony. Company is just sooo good.
