I think American Utopia will easily win this. It’s definitely the most visible, not only from its sold-out run, but Spike Lee’s filmed version on HBO (which will probably be nominated for Best Music Film next year). The only other nominees that could (but probably won’t) upset are Jagged Little Pill and Little Shop Of Horrors. The other three nominees don’t have a chance.

I thought Jesus Christ Superstar had it locked and it lost so you never know. I’m hoping Little Shop Of Horrors wins. It was probably the best show on or off-Broadway this year. I’m surprised Christian Borle wasn’t part of the nominations.

I still maintain it was category fraud putting it there in the first place, because while yes it’s based on a musical, it was a television adaptation from the get-go, so it should’ve been nominated in the Visual Media Soundtrack category. American Utopia at least premiered on stage BEFORE Spike Lee filmed it.
