Maybe the Hudson, Golden, Lyceum, Barrymore or James Earl Jones would be better.
I liked the cartoon in the article. It does note that in the year Mousetrap opened and in this one the UK got a new monarch.November 28, 2022 at 2:35 pm #1205169396November 28, 2022 at 4:18 pm #1205169498
Would Mousetrap be considered a new play or a revival?November 28, 2022 at 4:47 pm #1205169556
Awardsfan1990 asked about that when I posted the news in the 2022-23 Season Announcements thread. Adamunc then responded with “It’s been performed regularly all over the world, so it seems certain to be a revival.”November 28, 2022 at 5:44 pm #1205169660
Yet Me and My Girl was considered a new musical, even though it was 50 years old or so. Perhaps it was new to the U.S. I’m not sure if the same case can be made for The Mousetrap.November 28, 2022 at 6:59 pm #1205169746
The rules regarding classic works that had never been produced on Broadway before might’ve been different back in 1987. If Me and My Girl made its main stem debut now, I think it would likely be eligible as a revival. You have to consider more current rules at awards shows nowadays. Just because they were different then doesn’t mean they’ll always stay exactly the same.November 29, 2022 at 8:00 am #1205170342
The previously announced Broadway revival of A Doll’s House starring Jessica Chastain will begin performances at the Hudson Theatre this February.

I’m attending KPOP this Saturday night and I expect good things. Jesse Green’s review in the NY Times got flak for calling the lighting “squint-inducing,” a poor choice of words.December 2, 2022 at 9:09 pm #1205176434
I just saw Into the Woods, and it was a well-acted revival of a show worth seeing. Too bad it will still be outlasted by Phantom. Since the Broadway is dark, maybe ITW should move there.December 3, 2022 at 3:15 am #1205176560
Was that your first time seeing it? If so, I assumed you have already since you’ve previously mentioned how Julia Lester deserves a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.December 3, 2022 at 5:35 am #1205176605
The grosses and attendance for Into the Woods have dropped significantly since Sara Bareillis left and moving theaters is incredibly expensive, so in all likelihood January 8 will be it for this production on Broadway. Not now
