I first saw ITW at New York City Center, I first saw the Broadway production last night. Julia Lester’s no longer Little Red, the replacement Katy Geraghty did a great job.

I suppose the backlash against Jesse Green will work in KPOP‘s favor. I saw the show last night, and, well, if it’s not the Best Musical it’s the best KPOP concert on Broadway. Enjoyable, if style over substance.

I didn’t expect A Beautiful Noise to cause people to make beautiful noise. Just another oldies concert. That and Almost Famous are not likely to get a Best Musical nod.

Also, how was Ain’t No Mo’?

Apparently the critics liked it more than the audience. I’m not so sure Ain’t No Mo’ will be up for the Best Play Tony.

Now that Into the Woods is touring, perhaps it will perform at the Tonys and still has a shot at Best Revival of a Musical, unless Sweeney Todd slashes its chance. In any case, Sondheim would be pleased his work is still so well-received. Perhaps Sweeney will be dedicated to Angela Lansbury, as will City Center’s Dear World.

For the small slate of play revivals we currently have this season, the ones we’ve gotten so far have been mostly well received as Ohio State Murders can now be added to that list.
