I think Camelot should be added into Best Book of a Musical. In a recent interview with Lincoln Center Theater’s blog, Aaron Sorkin discussed his process in writing a whole new script as opposed to making polishes to the one that already exists.

It would also be so ironic if this is what gets Sorkin his very first Tony nomination.

Revised books have been nominated for Candide, Flower Drum Song and Cinderella. Sorkin should be considered.

Good, however I’m not able to edit my predictions right now. I think some of the shows set at 100:1 will have their odds changed after they open, like The Thanksgiving Play.

Has the Tony committee stated Actress in a Play is limited to four nominations when the other acting categories have five? That is all the site is letting me enter.

Perhaps there aren’t enough women eligible for Lead Actress in a Play.

The number of nomination slots per category is determined by the total number of eligible contenders for said category.

In order to get 5 nomination slots, there must be a minimum of 9 eligible contenders. Lead Actress in a Play only has 7 eligible women in that race, which means there will be 4 nominees. The only way there would be a fifth is if there is a tie (within 10%) for the final slot. (Of course, the administration committee make final category determinations so its possible there are women in the spring who will be moved to lead. But I have made my best, most informed guesses as to where they will end up).

This is also why you can only predict 3 shows for Play Revival. Unless another revival opens at the last minute, there are only 5 eligible shows for this category. There would need to be 6 contenders to get to 4 nomination slots.

That’s what I said, there would be five nominees if there were at least nine eligible female leads. It’s a shame that with 18 new plays there aren’t enough female leads.

I think Life of Pi has a chance at Best Play, with its amazing puppetry and staging.

It’ll probably be down to that and Leopoldstadt.

What about The Thanksgiving Play? Once it opens I hope it has a shot. I also hope Cost of Living gets in.

Leopoldstadt is the frontrunner for Best Play with Cost of Living right behind it. People who have seen Life of Pi say the writing is terrible.

On the one hand, War Horse, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and Harry Potter & the Cursed Child each won Best Play based on the strength of their stagecraft as opposed to their writing. On the other hand, the nominators snubbed Network, recognizing the achievement in its lead performance and stagecraft, but knew the script itself wasn’t good enough (which I successfully predicted would be the case).

I saw all of those shows (War Horse, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and Harry Potter & the Cursed Child) and their writing was great, especially The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
