ReplyCopy URLJune 12, 2022 at 7:55 pm #1204981548How in the world do you decide to honor a living legend and then not even bother to air the honor during the main broadcast? I understand Angela Lansbury is now 96 years old and was probably never able to attend the ceremony in person, but the least they could have done for her was to include her honor during the main broadcast. Or maybe have her tape an acceptance speech prior and then air it during the show.
Sticking her honor during the pre-show comes across as so immensely disrespectful and shameful I do not even know where to begin. Instead of being a wonderful moment and the cherry on the top of a wonderful stage career, this honor felt like a trivial after-thought they could hardly be bothered with. Not to mention they had time to honor Stephen Sondheim on the main telecast (rightfully so), but somehow had no time for her.
If this is the best they could do for a living legend like Dame Angela, then I almost wish they would not have done anything in the first place. It is a real shame they did not think to do this 10-15 years ago when she most likely could have attended in person (considering they probably could have done this anytime in the past 30 years and it would have been warranted).

Did you think that maybe, just maybe, she didn’t submit anything?
