I agree that she is absolutely deserving. Other theatre veterans who I think should receive a Kennedy Center Honors are:

    Alain Boublil & Claude-Michel Schönberg
    Betty Buckley
    Glenn Close
    Sandy Duncan
    Harvey Fierstein
    Sheldon Harnick
    Nathan Lane
    Patti LuPone
    Alan Menken
    Liza Minnelli
    Tim Rice
    Stephen Schwartz
    Charles Strouse
    Tommy Tune

As for those who aren’t mainly known for theatre, but have worked in that medium:

    Phil Collins
    Cyndi Lauper
    Frankie Valli
    Otis Williams

Bernadette and Patti MUST be honored at some point! It’s impossible to imagine what Broadway would be like without them!

Bernadette is indeed deserving but “be get”?

As for theatre people, I would add David Mamet and Tony Kushner.

She is eventual. I’d guess next two years.

She is eventual? Do you mean she will get the KCH eventually?

Here’s another theatre veteran to add to the list: Athol Fugard.

Nobody knows. But she is definitely deserving.

I agree she is deserving. I was put off by the syntax. But so are Athol Fugard and David Mamet. The KCH hasn’t honored a playwright since Edward Albee in 1996. It seems wrong that they would choose Oprah, Neil Diamond, Letterman, George Lucas, The Eagles, LL Cool J and even a kids’ show before honoring another playwright.

Here’s another Broadway veteran I’ve thought of who I can see receiving a Kennedy Center Honor at some point: Audra McDonald

Although better known for her film work, Frances McDormand is another theater veteran who should and I predict eventually will win a Kennedy Center Honor.
