In its final week on Broadway, SpongeBob SquarePants has ended its run on a high note.

The following Broadway productions really went down in terms of grosses last week:
Head Over Heels
Once on This Island
Summer: The Donna Summer Musical
It would not surprise me if at least one of those shows ends up closing sometime soon.

I bet it’s going to be Head Over Heels, based on Michael Riedel’s report from earlier in the summer.September 28, 2018 at 7:21 pm #1202643125

It’s a virtual certainty that Moulin Rouge will announce a summer/early fall opening at the Al Hirschfeld within the next few weeks.September 29, 2018 at 10:37 pm #1202643501
How much time does a show need to start previews once another show leaves the same theatre before it? I’m guessing there won’t be any time for Moulin Rouge to open before the Tony eligibility period is over for the 2018-2019 season.September 30, 2018 at 6:25 am #1202643584
The Moulin Rouge producers are also producing King Kong. They don’t want two $20+ million productions competing against each other for Tonys in the same season. MR will come in next season. Plus there’s not nearly enough time after KB‘s closing to load out, load in, tech, preview, and open another show this Tony season. I imagine the Hirschfeld will also need extensive design modifications to hold MR.September 30, 2018 at 7:45 am #1202643592
