After winning a Tony and an Oscar for Fences, Viola Davis will be starring in another August Wilson adaptation, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, for Netflix. Other Broadway alums in the cast include Glynn Turman and Colman Domingo. Ruben Santiago-Hudson will write the screenplay, while George C. Which includes Meryl Streep as Dede Allen, James Corden as Barry Glickman, Nicole Kidman as Angie Dickinson, Andrew Rannells as Trent Oliver, Ariana Grande as Alyssa, Awkwafina as Ms. Sheldon, and Keegan-Michael Key as Principal Hawkins. Though a nationwide search led by casting director Alexa Fogel is on to fill the role of Emma Nolan.
