So Alex Meyer (who is better known in these forums as Awardsfan1990) recently published a thread about his favorite male-female duets in general. In all honesty, I couldn’t give a response to it because my personal music collection mainly consists of musical theater stuff, and I don’t really pay attention to the music world in general. However, I thought it would be a good idea to start a separate thread here asking you for your favorite male-female musical theater duets. The criteria for this should be songs that were written exclusively for a stage musical, and not pre-existing material from a music catalogue nor movie musical. As well as the fact that they’re duets between a male character and a female character, with no chorus parts. For example, here are some of my favorites:

‘All I Ask of You’ from The Phantom of the Opera
‘Do You Love Me?’ from Fiddler on the Roof
    ‘Fantine’s Death’ from Les Misérables
‘If I Loved You’ from Carousel
‘I’ll Know’ from Guys & Dolls
    ‘Light My Candle’ from Rent
‘A Little Priest’ from Sweeney Todd
    ‘Our Children’ from Ragtime
    ‘Tonight’ from West Side Story
‘You’ll Never Get Away From Me’ from Gypsy

So what are your favorite male-female duet(s) from the musical theater canon?

“People Will Say We’re in Love” from Oklahoma!
“Not While I’m Around” from Sweeney Todd
“Where’s My Shoe?” from She Loves Me
“I Have Dreamed” from The King and I
    “Still” from Titanic
“How Could I Ever Know?” from The Secret Garden
