I expect we’ll still have more Tonys this decade despite this one being cancelled due to the coronavirus. Seeming we’ve seen many Film and TV veterans win Tonys in the last decade (Jessica Lange, Scarlett Johansson) who do you think will get their first nominations?

A few picks of mine :

    Gillian Anderson
    Cate Blanchett
    Claire Foy
    James McAvoy

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

FYC Goldderby Awards : MAURA TIERNEY AND DOMINIC WEST FOR THE FINAL SEASON OF THE AFFAIR

Cate Blanchett was already nominated for her Broadway debut in The Present back in 2017.

As for who I think has potential, it of course does depend on who even ends up performing on Broadway within this decade. Here is a list I’ve managed to come up with:

    Amy Adams
    Corbin Bleu
    Jessica Chastain
    Charlie Cox
    Benedict Cumberbatch
    Michael Douglas
    Chiwetel Ejiofer
    Ansel Elgort
    Michael Fassbender
    John Goodman
    Jake Gyllenhaal
    Anne Hathaway
    Tom Hiddleston
    Oscar Isaac
    Lily James
    Vanessa Kirby
    Alex Newell
    David Oyelowo
    Chris Pine
    Daniel Radcliffe
    Saoirse Ronan
    Matt Smith
    Dan Stevens
    Emma Stone
    Emma Thompson
    Blair Underwood
    Christoph Waltz
    Kate Winslet
    Evan Rachel Wood

I wonder if Amy Adams will win a Tony before winning an Oscar.

I wonder if Amy Adams will win a Tony before winning an Oscar.

It certainly looks that way, although for some odd reason, I feel like the Academy will “Geraldine Page” or “Jessica Tandy” her. This means they won’t reward her with an Oscar until she’s either secured her eighth nomination (give it five years) or they’ll unjustly reward her with a Best Actress win as a career achievement award when she’s well into her seventies or eighties.

FYC 2020 Emmys: Viola Davis (HTGAWM), Cicely Tyson (HTGAWM), Eddie Murphy (SNL)

FYC 2021 Oscars: Jennifer Hudson (Respect), Viola Davis (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story)

FYC 2021 Grammys: Ledisi (Trad. R&B Perf. - "Anything For You")

Who am I? You'll find out soon. Ciao, for now!

I know considering her a film actor is probably a controversial topic on here, but I think if Lady Gaga heads to Broadway in a musical revival, a nomination is in the cards for her.

    Emmys FYC:
Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series: D'Arcy Carden (The Good Place)
Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: Josh O'Connor (The Crown)
Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series: Toni Collette (Unbelievable)

13-time Olivier Award nominee and 4-time Olivier Award winner Imelda Staunton really needs to get to Broadway in the next 10 years and, especially given the amount of West End transfers in recent years, I am very surprised she hasn’t yet. And whenever she does, I think she’ll be Tony nominated and win.

If she gets a juicy film role as well she could get an Oscar, Tony and Emmy (for The Crown) in the same year.
