With the taping of Hamilton with the original Broadway cast currently doing very well on Disney+, I decided to start a thread on this subject.

Over the years, there have been a long history of stage productions being filmed professionally with the intention of being released to the general public. Examples of this include Contact, Into the Woods, Newsies, Peter Pan, Rent, Sunday in the Park with George, Sweeney Todd, etc. However, there are a number of Broadway productions that audiences have heard about, but never got to see given that they’ve been long gone for years. So which Broadway production would you’ve most liked to have seen filmed with their original cast?

Here are some of my ideas:

    Annie (with Andrea McArdle)
    Cabaret
    A Chorus Line
    Evita (with Patti LuPone)
Fiddler on the Roof (with Zero Mostel)
    Gypsy (with Ethel Merman)
    Hello, Dolly! (with Carol Channing)
Mame (with Angela Lansbury & Bea Arthur)
Man of La Mancha (with Richard Kiley & Joan Diener)
My Fair Lady (with Julie Andrews & Rex Harrison)
The Producers with (Nathan Lane & Matthew Broderick)
    Ragtime
