Who do you think will win? I predict Sharon D. Clarke, and possibly Lexi Rabadi (Hannah Senesh).February 18, 2020 at 6:40 pm #1203351345
I think Zawe Ashton, Charlie Cox, and/or Tom Hiddleston will all likely be recipients for Betrayal.February 19, 2020 at 6:43 am #1203351820
I could see Will Hochman being recognized for The Sound Inside as well.March 8, 2020 at 6:23 am #1203374715
And based on reactions to the first week of previews, Patsy Ferran in Virginia Woolf seems a strong possibility.March 8, 2020 at 8:15 am #1203374810
Given that Amar Ramasar appeared in the revival of Carousel two years ago, that makes him ineligible to be rewarded here for West Side Story, right? Otherwise, there’s going to be a lot more protests against him.March 8, 2020 at 8:45 am #1203374829
Yes, he’s ineligible. Though I believe Shereen Pimentel and/or Yesenia Ayala are eligible given that West Side Story marks their first time opening a show on Broadway in major principal roles.March 9, 2020 at 1:24 pm #1203376046
Sharon D. Clarke’s co-star Samantha Williams could show up here as well.
I suspect other strong contenders will be Andrew Burnap and Paul Hilton (‘The Inheritance’), Mark Addy and Gabby French (‘Hangmen’), Andrea Macaset, Brittney Mack, and Samantha Pauly (‘SIX’), Ben McKenzie (‘Grand Horizons’), Chantal Thuy (‘Linda Vista’), and Dharon E. Jones (‘West Side Story’).
I believe they have slightly bent the rules before to allow someone to receive this award if their only other credit was an understudy or replacement (since they didn’t debut the character), as the rules now read “for their significant debut performance”. If they go that route then Lauren Patten (‘Jagged Little Pill’) could be a good choice (her one previous bway credit is an understudy/replacement for ‘Fun Home’).March 17, 2020 at 11:22 am #1203384427
This year’s Theatre World Awards have been postponed until the fall.

Does anyone know when the awards are coming up? I saw them in person the past three years, and in 2018 I even went to the afterparty. It was a lot of fun joining a bunch of fellow theatre nerds singing “Out Tonight” and “My Strongest Suit.”August 8, 2020 at 1:23 pm #1203634457
No details have been announced yet.August 22, 2020 at 1:58 pm #1203661118
If the Tonys are on, I’m sure the TWAs are as well.August 22, 2020 at 2:30 pm #1203661208
Nobody said the Theatre World Awards weren’t happening. They said months ago they were going to do something this fall. They just haven’t announced the actual details yet.August 22, 2020 at 4:06 pm #1203661549
Well I’m looking forward to it, as usual. I’m not sure Emily Skeggs should have been eligible, since she had been in an Off-Broadway production of Take Me Along several years prior. So Sharon Clarke won’t qualify, but I’m sure Adrienne Warren will.August 22, 2020 at 4:08 pm #1203661553
Adrienne Warren already had two major Broadway credits prior to Tina, so she won’t be eligible.September 2, 2020 at 7:23 am #1203681715
How about Aline Mayagoitia from FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: THE NEXT GENERATION? She did a great job in that. Not now
