Homeland was such an inspiring win, to go against giving it to Mad Men yet again. Danes gave THE perfomance of the decade. People didn’t predict Homeland to win which is a bit strange in retrospect because it won Casting and Editing which even with the old system was a strong combo.

I agree 100%. She should have had a 3rd win.

The Americans not winning at least 1 is painful. I do however have to remember that the 2010’s is a peak in TV history.

A question for everyone: why do we think this category is particularly prone to multiple supporting actress Emmy nominees from one show? It must have the most double/triple/quadruple nominees of any category in recent times.

Actress categories (both) are skewing a bit younger more recently I think. I don’t have a calculator to definitively prove it but there’s a lot more under 30s than there were in earlier years I think.

    Over Lithgow? Interesting.

Lithgow was very good but Harris was absolutely revelatory.

One thing that stands out is the sheer quality of that decade, and how that quality has dropped off.

Succession and The Crown seem like the only remnants of that era. Now it’s all comic books and outer space, and miniseries that suddenly added disappointing second and third seasons and didn’t know how to stick the landing.

    Here for the comedies
