Dreadful ceremony after last year great and iconic?
It’s weird but the pandemic forced then to do things differently and entertaining and now it’s just back to boring

I missed the good old days when the Emmys attempted to spread the wealth

I didn’t watch one minute of the ceremony.

I just came on here to check for the winners, and it looked like I didn’t miss anything

An Emmy ceremony filled with sweeps, expected wins and a lackluster host all culminated into a night that even the most diehard Emmy fans would call dreary

I liked the setup/stage for this year’s function! It was very intimate.

I liked the setup too. I didn’t think too much about it – the focus was on the nominees and winners.

    Also, yay for clips.

    Netflix won BIG.

I don’t know how they’re going to back that up next year.

The Crown swept! Comedy got divided into Ted and Hacks while Limited had MOE, TQ, Coel winning by. That pattern is prevalent every Emmy season lately

They should bring back the tape system. The academy watches 4 or 5 shows per year. Every single winner of the night, with the exception of I May Destroy You, got 2+ wins. They need to spread the wealth.

This! the Emmys were more interesting with the tape system

I think this is very evident. So many under the radar yet highly deserving shows are not getting nominated, and the acting categories are filled with whoever is in a series nominee regardless of their performance or size of role.

The In Memoriam continues to leave people out again. Jean Smart’s husband Richard Gilliland was on Designing Women and other shows was left out.

    From Twitter

    @AshleyKSmalls

I remember when Viola Davis won her Emmy she said “the only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity.” That’s still true. It’s not like we can audition for a role on shows like The Crown. (1)

And then think about the fact that the one award that a Black woman won by herself tonight is for an opportunity she created for herself because she wrote it. (2)

One thing the Academy needs to do is to figure out a way to enforce the time limit for speeches. When somebody is “played off” three times and still refuses to stop talking, and nothing is done about it, why bother? I just wonder how much of a hit the show’s ratings are going to take because of the people tuning in for the 8:00 repeat in the west watching the last three awards go first – “Oh well, that’s all I needed to know, let’s see what else is on.”
