I didn’t have any of the huge shocks to boast about but the things I’m most happy about are going 19/21 in the series categories (got all drama & limited, missed Emily in Paris & Cobra Kai in comedy – I had Superstore & Girls5Eva instead).
The other things I’m happy about are slotting in Conan and Nick Mohammed at the last minute last night.

* Mare in Series from day one (100/1)
* Brodie-Sangster & Ingram over Camp & Heller
* TBS, Essiedu, Peters from the start
* Small Axe misses series (it was Twin Peaks 2.0)
* Hamill OUT
* Top Chef hosts
* ConanJuly 13, 2021 at 5:52 pm #1204344824Several people predicted O-T, but I’m proud because I almost took him out and thank God the prediction center had closed.

Britt Lower for Severance.July 13, 2021 at 5:56 pm #1204344834I just noticed Daniel Kaluuya got nominated over Rege-Jean Page which I predicted. It felt just like Pitt (an Oscar winner getting nominated for a widely seen and liked appearance on SNL). The Oscar winning aspect is also why I predicted Emerald Fennell but almost everyone predicted that one haha.

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")
July 14, 2021 at 6:29 am #1204345880I guess Thomas Brodie-Sangster because everyone kept saying he won’t happen but I stuck to predicting him all season and it payed off even in a field of essentially 3 aside from 3 Hamilton slots Also glad I slotted in O-T Fagbenle a few days ago.

Severance in all categoriesJuly 14, 2021 at 7:46 am #1204345999Probably just the odds I got for Essiedu, Kaluuya and Nicholson, plus getting 3 from Hamilton (Diggs, Odom Jr and Goldsberry).

July 14, 2021 at 10:17 am #1204346200This was shockingly my second-best Emmy nominations score ever – 57th place – though I didn’t call any long-shot nominees.
I did have Paul Reiser at 74/1 odds, Janney and Macy in the Comedy lead categories, and Top Chef, Tom, Padma, and Gail, and the Shark Tank hosts. Those were all about picking the most likely of the runners-up outside of our odds than reaching for a shocker, though. I had Jane Adams for Hacks until the morning of…

ReplyCopy URLJuly 14, 2021 at 8:02 pm #1204346996Nothing much. Just knew that “Hamilton” was too big a cultural phenomenon to be completely snubbed, but I didn’t predict the degree to which it would be received. Somehow, I managed to get 100/1 odds on Jean Smart and William H. Macy, which is insane. Don’t know how any of that works here, suspiciously enough, but I do think that the prevailing thought was that Macy would be snubbed due to the college scandal, but that stench stuck to his wife, not him. I always had Macy in my final five. I thought Danson could pull through on reputation and “TGP” afterglow with “Mr. Mayor,” but voters went with Kenan in his awful new show instead.
