I cannot believe they snubbed 10x nominee and 1x winner Better Call Saul for the first time… Wow

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

Genuinely shocked Saul missed this guild. I guess it would’ve made a 5 if Euphoria & Severance only had the one episode.

Is this Atlanta’s first guild mention? Well deserved. Fantastic editing. Fantastic episode.

They’re a panelled awards group (whilst the editors branch at the Emmys vote with a plurality voting system) and they have shown in the past to snub shows of certain calibres (The Crown and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for example were both snubbed for their previous seasons) and recognise smaller underdogs (like Lupin last year) but I’d say this is a very good nomination for Andor which hadn’t really been doing too well with the craftspeople compared to its older sibling The Mandalorian. Not sure what it means for it when it comes to the Emmys with both Mando and The White Lotus competing against it but it’s a solid starting point nonetheless.

Euphoria has done well here since its first season and Severance already got 2 nominations at the Emmys so double nominations for both are only really to be expected. Better Call Saul has done well traditionally here too but I’m not looking into its misses too much as it probably always benefitted in the past from the split into commercial and non commercial editing.

Hacks missing in spite of winning here last year was predictable with how much it has been tanking at the guilds for season 2 although missing out for Atlanta of all things is quite shocking. Ozark should be happy it’s over.

It’s sad Station Eleven had to compete in last year’s cycle

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

I was just going over my DGA predictions and looking at the comedy field (which I don’t know if its been said already but that lineup is really inspired – I’m really glad the guild included “How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall?”) and wait the episode The White Lotus is up for is the season finale? Why is it credited as “BYG” instead of “Arrivederci”?

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

His cinematography in this is great, that’s well deserved.

Visual Effects Society winners (a few of these are mixed with film)

Surprised that Five Days at Memorial was considered an upset (at least going by GD odds – it was 4th). VFX people know the difficulty of cwater effects and the show featured some truly excellent water and practical set work.

Andor has had a very mixed guild performance (making WGA but missing DGA in spite of The Crown being ineligible there, missing ASC but making BSC, making ACE but missing with the BFE) so it losing here doesn’t neccessarily surprise me. The Rings of Power’s visual effects were incredibly showy and something that I think even people who loathed the show (like myself) can agree upon.

I would have gone for Severance myself but Five Days at Memorial is an inspired winner!

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

Yeah, I don’t really know what to make of it.
