November 16, 2022 at 7:04 am #1205156079Is The English eligible for this ?
For the BAFTAs yes. For the RTS craft awards no (it will be eligible there next year as it aired in the second half of the year).

I was going to ask the eligibility because there is really old stuff there but also Bad Sisters.

Bad Sisters is eligible as it started airing in August (their awards go from September to September).

They’ve now changed their awards eligibility time frame to the calendar year that BAFTA follows (Jan to Dec).
Programmes that are eligible (but weren’t before) there include:
– A Spy Without Friends
– Bad Education (Christmas Special)
– The Crown
– The English
– Funny Woman
– Great Expectations
– I Hate Suzie Too
– Litvinenko
– I Am Ruth
– Riches
– Without SinThey also have added two supporting categories as well as one for comedy drama so it will be interesting to see what their lineups end up being now (especially considering that before they were already the closest thing we had to a simulation of the BAFTAs pre-nominations).

November 28, 2022 at 1:23 pm #1205169342I just noticed this rule change from BAFTA’s press release on the TV awards last month and I’m over the moon! Hopefully it can lead to the entertainment performance category to finally get its first female winner after what will have been THIRTY years since its last next year.
Entertainment Performance
The top three male and top three female performers from the Round One: membership vote will now automatically go through to jury consideration. This new intervention, a first for the TV Awards, will increase the visibility of women at longlisting stage, with the longer-term aim to encourage a greater representation of women considered. This sits alongside BAFTA’s wider charitable work to level the playing field for all.
