New Years Day seems inevitable?

Probably will be either that or it premieres on Boxing Day and airs its second on Bank Holiday Tuesday and then proceeds to a weekly release after that like with Around the World in 80 Days last year. I’m not sure if there’s a clear Boxing Day drama this year?
Either way it’s SOON!

November 29, 2022 at 12:20 pm #1205170683Technically it’s ‘Christmas TV’ they’ve announced so I’m expecting Boxing Day launch and then Sundays onwards
Not sure what that does for BAFTA eligibility though.

This Christmas TV announcement from the BBC always includes New Years Day stuff. Whatever is going to be airing the 1st will be there (that’s not to say Happy Valley isn’t coming on Boxing Day)

Programmes scheduled to have episodes in two separate calendar years (e.g. December 2022 and January 2023) cannot enter the same series in two consecutive years and must choose the year they wish to enterIf Happy Valley airs one episode in 2022 but the rest in 2023, it could still compete for next years TV BAFTAs.

November 30, 2022 at 1:43 am #1205171303Seeing as this is technically the new British TV Thread, I’ll just repost the news about the Motherland Christmas special (I’m VERY excited for this one) 😛

November 30, 2022 at 2:27 pm #1205171924The more time that passes and the more recognition This is Going to Hurt picks up with the American critics the more I wonder if it’s going to have the same fate that It’s a Sin and We Are Lady Parts had last year and lose to an equally acclaimed show that didn’t get as much attention internationally.

December 2, 2022 at 6:42 am #1205175027Great news for Happy Valley. The new year’s slot is a great launch pad for dramas (especially news ones or shows that haven’t aired in years like it).
I’m really curious though to see what the BBC’s boxing day drama is? They usual find something to throw in there even when they had to delay an Agatha Christie because of re-shoots and when the only show they had was A Very British Scandal last year. Ah budget cuts.

December 7, 2022 at 6:48 am #1205181446Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything, starring Sheridan Smith, seems to not be a BAFTA threat…
The i: Sheridan Smith’s reunions with Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps creator, Susan Nickson, is repetitive, lightweight and misjudged
Radio Times: Sheridan Smith’s new comedy falls flat in every regard.
Evening Standard: a lethal dose of dullness

What about Great Expectations? They had a first look for that a while ago now.
