Posting this here because the British TV thread was closed and I don’t want to open a new one just for this question, but does anyone know what happened with Funny Woman? It was slated to premiere on Sky this October, but that came and went without any word on it. The official page for the show on the Sky website even still says October.

Thanks! Hadn’t seen that. I suppose I’ll have to wait a few more months.

It’s really, really annoying, and it’s not terribly realistic that she gets in at the Globes or SAG either. This was the one place I thought she was a chance.

Me if the Emmys continue their bias against the Sarahs and snub Goldberg and Lancashire again and overlook Snook.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.
December 6, 2022 at 10:07 am #1205180289Literally one of the best scenes of the year, I can’t think of another time I felt out of breath from a performance all on its own. The camerawork is great and everything but for this scene Goldberg just completely takes over everything and commands the show with her performance, I can’t believe she’s not going to get nominated for anything
December 6, 2022 at 12:38 pm #1205180607Netflix says that in 12 days, Wednesday has been watched for 752.5 million total hours. That's more than Bridgerton racked up in twice as much time. https://t.co/mJVvUv7L0j

So disappointing.
December 6, 2022 at 2:21 pm #1205180733Could overtake Squid Game apparently.
8 days ago in LA, we mentioned to a group of tech/media investors that #wednesdaynetflix was literally blowing up on social media with serious binge consumption $NFLX

– Today, Ted Sarandos said it could rival #SquidGame pic.twitter.com/k0S3cKslaB

Yeah, I’m kind of more fascinated on how big this could get as a comedy moreso than its awards chances (which I think ultimately are tied to “it’s probably too big to ignore) and my suspicion has been it landing somewhere between Stranger Things and Squid Game on total viewers (it might not quite do ST’s numbers because it’s a lot shorter).
It probably needs to cool this week for it’s own sake because the cast engagement is a bit unhinged and it’s a bit prone to self combusting (trending simultaneously on TikTok and Facebook is recipe for a disinformation/outrage nightmare)
December 6, 2022 at 5:15 pm #1205181033Never thought it’d be possible but the series finale of Dead To Me made me love Cardellini (and Judy) even more. What a terrific actress she is, everything she did felt natural, those last 2 episodes (and the 6th as well) were great tapes for her, hopefully she’d be more of a player at the Emmys next year but I’d be happy with one last nod for her. I seriusly hope she gets more Lead roles in the future because she’s great. I know Applegate has the narrative and she’s good as Jen but Carellini has been stealing the show since the beginning and her performance is just superior than Applegate’s.
The cast was great and in a fair world Applegate, Cardellini, Marsden and Riva would be locks. Applegate and Cardellini were better in S2 and are deserving for S3 but Marsden and Riva brought their A-game this season. I also want to bring attention to Hopkins’ Yolanda, she was terrific in the 5th episode and made me wish they had used the grief group characters more.
C’mon Emmys, don’t forget about them!!!!!!
"EGOT" and "Triple Crown of Acting" winner: VIOLA DAVIS!!!!

December 8, 2022 at 10:14 pm #1205184643Seeing IP wednesday fly up more and previously noting Emily in Paris as THE original solely-Female-Led comedy of the 2020s, I looked back through the 10 most recent years to see which other originals can match Miss Emily, based on IMDB.
Seems just Russian Doll (which may be 2 and done) and Marvelous Mrs Maisel (winner of many Emmys).
Pretty impressive for a show generally considered to be rather uncool and unacclaimed.
[On the drama side, there’s lead winners Orphan Black/How to Get Away with Murder, and 2-and-done The OA.]
