Minx is also a Lionsgate show so Starz would make sense and it might actually work okay there too.
I’m sad but I thought Minx was a very, very borderline renewal at the time
December 12, 2022 at 4:57 pm #1205191941This is a Lionsgate production so I can see this being shopped and licensed around. Here in the UK, S1 is on Netflix and both seasons air linearly on the BBC.

Don’t speak too soon, Abbott is a Warner Bros production and there are apparently issues there too (it was the reason apparently for The Sandman renewal taking 3+ months over at Netflix and they were talking about it being an issue with You and Sweet Tooth as well).
December 12, 2022 at 5:28 pm #1205192002Is everything related to Warner Brothers? I know they bank Ted Lassos too, but I’m sure Apple would easily buy their part on that show.
FYC:
The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, Somebody Somewhere, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

Shrinking which is out early next year is as well. Abbott and Ted are the two big Emmy contenders. The Peripheral at Prime would be at risk I think

I don’t think Ted or Abbott is really at risk or part of this. First they are licensed out to other networks/streamers and WB makes money off of that (the past president of Warners said he wasn’t sad that they didn’t keep Ted Lasso for HBO for that reason as distribution is a key revenue stream). Second Ted and Abbott were the two shows the new WB CEO said he wanted to make more shows like – which really stands out more now that he singled two non-HBO shows out given the cuts there.

That’s exactly the same situation with the Netflix shows though.
I don’t think Abbott is at risk, but it might be the difference between getting a Season 3 renewal in a timely fashion.
December 13, 2022 at 4:09 am #1205192538Was thinking about Hacks and wondering if HBO might hold it til early 2024 cycle given so many cancellations? They will probably have Somebody Somewhere earlier and that feels like the sort of show that will never get in if it can’t make it for S2.

The article mentions that Reese’s contract is up with the TMS’ upcoming third season. They also note that supposedly she would be able to do both shows alongside each other if a new contract would be signed.

Serves me right for reading like one paragraph!
