Reboot cancelled at Hulu.
Reboot was Levitan’s first creation since his Emmy-winning comedy Modern Family with Christopher Lloyd wrapped in 2020. And he hopes to shop it elsewhere; Deadline hears that another streamer has asked to read scripts from season two of the Twentieth TV comedy.
It will be so meta if someone else picks it up lol.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

it doesn’t seem very global in initial interest tho.

It’s not, but don’t think any multicams are these days. I don’t even know if That 90s Show was a massive hit worldwide. It’ll probably get renewed on those early numbers compared to some of their other attempts.

Comedy actress is stacked. It’s better for Lyonne to go drama.

Poker Face will be submitted here in Comedy, I just know it.That’s the big question. Peacock’s own app lists it as a drama. This is one if they try comedy the Emmys may move it over to drama (the hour long episode length doesn’t work in their favor here).

I think so too. I know that’s already an unpopular opinion around here but I really do think it’s a comedy! Of course, it has both comedic and dramatic elements but, for me, it feels like I’m watching a comedy with moments of drama whereas, when I’m watching something like Succession, it feels like a drama with moments of comedy.
I don’t think either placement would be egregious though. I’m also not sure how big of a player it’ll be regardless, given the Peacock of it all. Awareness does seem to be there but Peacock still doesn’t instill that much confidence.

It’s The Flight Attendant 2.0, comedic actress in a dramatic show with some comedy in it that goes for comedy just because the actress is known for comedy.

Interesting! The premise is pretty dramatic to me, a woman discovering a secret from a big casino owner and running from him to save her life is ultimate drama.
There are jokes and gags but pretty much every cop procedural also have those and I feel like this show is on pair with those (L&O, etc), and they always ran in drama.FYC:

This is an interesting point because Selena Gomez is the inverse of this. A dramatic role in a comedic series. Possibly why she has been snubbed by the Emmys and other guilds in contrast to her co-stars.
January 31, 2023 at 6:31 am #1205275760Awards bodies don’t tend to embrace secondary leads on shows from the off (unless the show is too strong to ignore and the field is too weak) until later in their run like with Julia Garner, Mandy Moore, Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show), Linda Cardellini, Jodie Comer (who was an equal lead to Sandra Oh in season 1) and potentially now on the drama side Britt Lower so Gomez getting snubbed at the winter awards (aside from the Globes) for season 1 and 2 only really fits in with the industry trend.
As someone who predicted her to miss at SAG this year I wouldn’t be surprised to see her still turn up at the Emmys even though she is pretty much borderline in the race and fighting for one of those last slots. The return of the restricted ballot might actually end up favouring her because now voters will be forced to choose six performances they like and the visibility could propel her to a nomination if they’re struggling to fill in the last spot on their ballot (which feels ironic to say seeing as how we used to argue how much the unlimited ballot favoured visibility more lol).

I don’t fully know how to explain but I think The Flight Attendant’s comedic tone is way higher than Poker Face’s… the show feels way more serious and I don’t know if the Academy would accept it in Comedy

This was so insightful thank you! I also have hope as Selena has something in her arsenal that other Best Actress candidates don’t. Her documentary was a big hit on Apple TV+; the titular song even made the Oscars shortlist. Let’s hope the television academy put their dormant accounts to use amidst Ted Lasso hiatus and watched it.

Yes, but I feel like the underlying tone is still much more comedic. Maybe it’s the stakes, or it’s just my own personal opinion, but I haven’t felt like Charlie’s in any real grave danger so far. Like in episode 4, when Cliff does show and she gets away via crowd surf, it doesn’t feel incredibly dramatic to me in the way it would had something like that played out on Law & Order. In fact, I found it funny — getting caught on TikTok then escaping in that way.
All this to say, I wouldn’t be mad if it’s placed in comedy or drama but I think I’d personally put it in comedy. I’ve also never subscribed to the “he/she is known for comedy so this has to be a comedy” way of thinking. I think Lyonne has been given dramatic moments so far, but her performance is also extremely comedic. I mean, the stuff with the fascist dog alone lol.
